Boston College vs. Notre Dame Football Betting Odds & Spread

This week the Boston College Eagles will host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, as both teams sitting at 5-3 and just one win away from becoming bowl eligible. The eagles have lost two straight overall and can’t afford to lose to straight at home with a loss this weekend, while the Irish try and keep from losing back-to-back games this season. Notre Dame comes into this one after a 4 overtime battle they loss last week to Pittsburgh, and you have to wonder if this team won’t be a little bit emotionally drained going into this one. The offense played well and had their chances to win this game, but just couldn’t come up with the big play when it mattered most. Quarterback Jimmy Clausen threw for 271 yards and 3 touchdowns. Clasuen will have to have a big game this week, and the Irish will hope for another solid effort from back Armando Allen, who ran for 73 yards on 19 carries last week. We think this unit will be fine, and should move the ball against the Eagles defense.

Now the Fighting Irish’s defense will have to play equally well in this one, as they can’t afford to fall down big early on the road. The Irish had really played well against Pitt, holding them to just 10 points through 3 quarters, but gave up 2 big touchdowns in the 4th quarter including a quick 2 min driver for 71 yards and the game tying touchdown. After rolling off 4 straight wins the Eagles could be fighting for their season this week after two straight losses, as a loss hear would mean that they would likely need to win 2 games out of 3 against Florida State, Wake Forest, and Maryland, so you can see how important this game is. The Eagles offense has had its struggles this season, and last week it really hurt itself by putting the ball on the ground 2 times. The Eagles passing game was not too accurate, as Chris Crane completed just 18 of 39 passes, while totaling just 116 yards. They will need a better game out of Crane this week, incase this one turns into a shootout.
The Ealges defense has played pretty well this season, but teams are just finding too many ways to score against this team, as they have given up 126 points in their last 4 games. Thats just too many points if you want to win football games consistently, unless you have an offense like the one out at Texas Tech.
