Broncos at Eagles Odds

Written by -

With two weeks left in the regular season, teams with a direct route to the playoffs need to be playing some of their best football at this point. Losing a home game to the Oakland Raiders is the complete opposite of that scenario. The Denver Broncos will have an opportunity to rebound on Sunday afternoon against the upstart Philadelphia Eagles. Donovan McNabb and company have won five straight and lead the NFC East by one game. According to our lines, Philadelphia is a 7 point favorite.

The Broncos still control their own destiny to the postseason, but things got a lot more complicated with a loss last weekend to the Raiders. JaMarcus Russell threw a touchdown pass with 35 seconds left to give Oakland a 20-19 lead that they would not relinquish. Denver’s record currently stands at 8-6 and they hold a one game lead in the bunched wild card race. QB Kyle Orton has done a nice job behind center and has undoubtedly outplayed the man he was traded for in Jay Cutler. He has 17 touchdown passes and only eight interceptions while completing over 62% of his passes. Rookie Knowshon Moreno has made a statement to the organization that he is the running back of the future. With a couple decent outings in the final two games, Moreno will eclipse the 1,000 yard mark in his first season. Veteran Correll Buckhalter is one of the better second string backs in the league and has rushed for almost 600 yards. The offense mainly flows through WR Brandon Marshall and his big play making ability. On the year, Marshall has 93 catches for 1081 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has been the most consistent piece of the puzzle and has put his off field incidents behind him. The usual stout Denver defense laid an egg against the Raiders and will really have to step their performance up versus a dynamic Eagles offense. They are 7th in the league in ppg and 2nd against the pass.

Andy Reid’s squad had wrapped up a spot in the postseason, but still have quite a bit to play for. They are only one game behind the Vikings for a first round bye and are trying to hold off the Cowboys for the division. Much of this will likely be decided at Dallas in the finale. The Eagles are flying high under the direction of Donovan McNabb as the former Syracuse star has thrown for 3008 yards and 19 touchdowns with nine interceptions. An injury to Michael Vick against the 49ers might hinder how flexible the offense can be in the next couple of weeks as Vick was just starting to show flashes of the explosive player he once was. LeSean McCoy has carried the load since Brian Westbrook went down with a major concussion. He has rushed for over 600 yards and four scores in limited duty. It is unknown if Westbrook will return at any point this season. TE Brent Celek has battled through injuries this year to catch 65 passes for 754 yards and seven touchdowns. DeSean Jackson has emerged into one of the top wide receivers in the NFC and produced with 56 catches for 1087 yards and eight scores. Philly’s defense has been up and down for the most part this year, but have played much better as of late. They feature one of the better cover units in the NFL and still possess exotic blitz schemes.

The Broncos have lost their last two games after a red hot start.  Their offense is sputtering and the defense is no longer intimidating opposing offenses.  Philadelphia has been firing on all cylinders lately and still have a lot to play for.  Denver has one of the best coverage units in the NFL, but the Eagles passing game is scoring on any type of secondary right now.  The Eagles continue flying high with a big win over Denver.

Recommended Play: Eagles -7
