Denver Broncos vs. New York Jets NFL Betting Odds & Spread

Written November 27, 2008 by Jason Lowry

What a turn around it has been for the New York Jets, as Brett Favre has led them to back to back road wins. First he took them into Foxborough and beat the Patriots 34-31, and then last week they went into Tennessee and beat the undefeated Titans bad 34-13. This week the Jets head home to take on the explosive offense of the Denver Broncos, who come in down after getting beat by the Raiders last week at home 31-10. For those of you looking to do some NFL betting this weekend, the oddsmakers have the Jets 7.5 point favorites over the Broncos at Sportsbook.com

Even with the ugly loss to the Raiders last week, the Broncos still sit safely on top of the AFC West, as the division is easily the weakest in the AFC. The offense really struggled last week, as the only offensive touchdown came from running back Peyton Hillis from 6 yards out. Hillis ran for 74 yards on 17 carries, and was the only real bright spot for this team. Quarterback Jay Cutler didn’t have it going, as he completed just 16 of 37 passes for 204 yards with an interception. Its hard figuring out what exactly happened, as the Broncos seem to struggle against the weaker teams this season. Now its to imagine this team struggling this bad again this week, but they are going up against one of the best defenses in the NFL.

The Broncos defense isn’t good, and last week they showed it, as JaMarcus Russell completed 10 of 11 passes for 152 yards and a score, while JustIn Fargas and Darren McFadden had plenty of success on the ground, as Fargas had 107 yards while McFadden had two of his 10 runs for for touchdowns. This isn’t good news going up against the Jets who are not only throwing the football well with Favre, but have really got the running game going over the last few weeks. After starting the season at just 3-3 the Jets have now rolled off 5 straight wins, and many believe they are the class of the AFC after their beat down of the Titans last week. Brett Favre threw for 224 yards and 2 scores, but he got plenty of help from the running game as Thomas Jones had over 100 total yards with a score, while Leon Washington added the excitement with 2 4th quarter touchdown runs, including one from 61 yards out. Now the Jets are clicking all over the field, as Favre has to be making Packers fan sick with the way his team looks this season. Look for Favre and the Jets to have all kinds of success this week against a pretty weak Broncos defense.

The Jets defense was awesome against the Titans last week, as they held the duo of Chris Johnson and LenDale White to just 45 yards, and White only wound up running the ball once for a negative yard. By the time the Titans scored their first touchdown in this one off a Collins 6 yard pass to Ahmard Hall this game was already over. Now the Jets are good, but you just never know what you are going to get with the Broncos, as they have that great ability to hit the big play at almost anytime during the game. We think the Jets will win this game, but don’t expect another beating like they gave the Titans last week. Bet Jets -7.5 at Sportsbook.com
