NFL Picks: Cleveland Browns at Buffalo Bills
Written November 17, 2008 by Brad Marchetti

The Cleveland Browns vs Buffalo Bills Monday Night Football match-up will end one the two teams losing streak. The Browns and Bills have lost their last five games combined. Cleveland has new blood behind center with poster boy QB Brady Quinn making his sceond career start. The muscle-bound 23-year old Quinn came up short in his first career start 30-34 to Denver on November 5th. The Browns are hoping to prove that they can finish off a game after blowing some big leads in their last two games. Buffalo has suffered from a lack of a pass-rush that could hurt them against Quinn. The Bills are built around opportunistic defense and they have not executed in their three game losing skid. If you are doing NFL betting on the straight up winner then the Cleveland Browns vs Buffalo Billls game is Buffalo -250 on the MONEYLINE.
Brady Quinn (450+ bench-press 4.65 40-speed) was impressive in his first start against Denver 2 weeks ago but still showed some rookie errors. Brady Quinn (104.3 passer rating) struggled at times but still showed poise, accuracy and mobility. 240-pound Cleveland RB Jamal Lewis (3.6 YPC 4 TD) is an excellent back in the late parts of the season and will look to punish Buffalo’s run defense (3.7 YPC 11 TD allowed). One matchup to watch will be the Browns dangerous wideouts against the Bills shaky pass-defense led by S Donte Whitner. Cleveland needs to play more mistake free football on offense to pull off the upset on Monday Night Football. The Browns coaching staff did a good job against Denver of limiting Quinn to short-to-intermediate passes while he still develops. The NFL odds for the Cleveland Browns vs Buffalo Bills game is Buffalo -5.5 on the SPREAD.
Buffalo QB Trent Edwards (86.9 passer rating) will welcome the extra days rest as he heads into Cleveland. The Browns pass-defense (14.0 sacks 86.4 passer rating) is below-average with the secondary being the main culprit to the mediocre play. Trent Edwards would be best served to spread the field and attack Cleveland downfield with burner WR Lee Evans ( 5′10″ 197 4.30 40-speed. For the Bills to expose the Browns flaws in the secondary, however, they will need more help from the running game (3.6 YPC 8 TD). RB’s Marshawn Lynch (400+ bench-press 4.40 40-speed) and Fred Jackson (6′1″ 215 4.60 40-speed) will need to gain some tough yards to help Edwards. The Browns 3-4 run defense (4.7 YPC 10 TD allowed) is led by mammoth run plugging DT Shaun Rodgers (6′4″ 360). Shaun Rodgers has recorded 4.5 sacks to go along with his run-stuffing abilities making him a Pro-Bowl canditate. Shaun Rodgers (550+ bench-press) could make a big impact in this game playing against inexperienced Buffalo center Duke Preston (6′5″ 325). If you are making your NFL picks on the OVERUNDER for the Cleveland Browns vs Buffalo Bills game the odds are at 40.0 points.
The Bills face a nice stretch of winnable game coming but must first deal with the Brownies. Brady Quinn looks for real in his early tests but the jury is still out. Cleveland must not shoot themselves in the foot against the disciplined Bills. Buffalo is at it’s best when they win ugly. Both of these teams are well-rested and ready for primetime as they try to get back on the winning track.
