Cleveland Browns vs. Buffalo Bills NFL Betting Odds & Spread

Written November 14, 2008 by Jason Lowry

Monday Night Football this week has the Cleveland Browns traveling to take on the Buffalo Bills. The Bills had started the season at 5-1 and had a nice lead in the AFC East, but after 3 straight losses to each team in the division the Bills are now at the bottom looking up. The Browns season hasn’t been that great either as they sit just 3-6 after their latest collapse against the Broncos on Thursday night football. If you are looking to still do a little NFL betting this weekend, the oddsmakers have the Bills 5 point favorites at home over the Browns at Sportsbook.com

The Browns had to like what they saw in Brady Quinn’s first start of the season, as they 2nd year player completed 23 of 35 passes for 239 yards with 2 touchdown strikes both going to tight end Kellen Winslow, who led the receivers with 10 catches for 111 yards. The Brows also had a solid running game going, as a trio of backs combined for 160 yards. One thing you might have a little concern about if you are a Browns fan, is Braylon Edwards had just 1 catch for 15 yards, but you have to think this combo is going to get it going the more they play together.

Now the Browns offense built a 23-3 lead, and the defense repaid them with giving up 21 fourth quarter points and the Broncos end up taking home the win 34-30. Now the Bills offense hasn’t been clicking to well of late, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the Browns changed that up this weekend. One plus is this unit has had nearly 11 days to prepare for this one, so if this unit is going to come out with a good performance there is a good chance it will be this week against the Bills. Now the problem with the Bills offense, is they aren’t getting much out of the running game, as Marshawn Lynch has just 123 yards and 1 touchdown in the Bills latest 3 game losing streak. Trent Edwards had just 2 interceptions the first 6 games of the season, but he too has struggled throwing 5 in the last 3 games to just 2 touchdown. Now if this unit is going to get it going its going to be on Monday Night Football against the Browns, cause if you can’t get pumped up to play on Monday Night Football you don’t deserve to play in the NFL.

THe Bills defense has done its best to keep the offense in games, hoping they will get it together and this team can get it back on track, and make a late push for the division and a playoff spot. Last week against the Patriots the Bills gave up just 2 offensive touchdowns, both coming on the ground, and this week they are going to likely have to make sure they can stop the passing game of Quinn and company. We are expecting a big game out of the Bills this week, but we have been expecting big games out of this team over the last 3 weeks and they have let us down. Bet Buffalo -5 at Sportsbook.com
