Cleveland Browns vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFL Betting Odds & Spread
Written December 12, 2008 by Jason Lowry

This Monday The Philadelphia Eagles will try and keep their slim playoff hopes alive when they host the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football. The Eagles come in at 7-5-1 after one of their more impressive wins of the season last week, as they became the first team to make the Giants look beatable in a long time, as they took home a 20-14 win. As for the Browns they are out of the playoff picture at 4-9 and lost their 3rd straight game last week against the Titans 9-28. For those of you looking to do a little NFL betting this Monday, the oddsmakers have the Eagles 14 point favorites at home over the Browns at Bookmaker.com
During the 3 game losing streak the Browns have failed to score more than 10 points or an offensive touchdown in any of the past 3 games. Last week third string quarterback Ken Dorsey got the start and tossed it up 43 times only completing 22 of them for 150 yards with an interception. The running game was pretty much pathetic, as Josh Cribbs led the way with 24 yards on 6 carries, and the Browns had just 35 yards total on the ground for the whole game. Now its hard to really say too much about this team as they are pretty hurt by injuries right now, and just don’t have any confidence going thanks to one of the more disappointing seasons in a long time for this franchise, as this was suppose to be the year they busted through to win the division. Now a lot has to go their way this weekend, and we just don’t think it will happen on the road in Philly.
Now the Browns defense became yet another victim of the Titans rushing attack, as Chris Johnson ran for 136 and a score, while LenDale White added another 99 yards and a score. Now they did a pretty good job against Kerry Collins forcing the veteran quarterback into 2 interceptions, but they also gave up 2 touchdown passes as well. Now they have big problems this week in facing Brian Westbrook who has gone off the last two weeks for 6 scores, so if they don’t stop the star back its pretty much game over early for these guys. The Eagles are really rolling on offense right now, but there is a good chance that it’s going to be to little too late for this team, as the tie against the Bengals is really going to hurt this team when it is all said and done. We mentioned how good Westbrook is playing over the last two wins, and last week he ran 33 times for 131 yards and a score, and added another 72 yards receiving with a touchdown receiving as well. Donovan McNabb was solid throwing the football once again, as he threw for 191 yards and that 40 yard pass and run to Westbrook. Look for Westbrook to have yet another huge day against the Browns this week, as their defense has little chance controlling this guy.
The Eagles defense really let the rest of the league see just what it takes to slow down the Giants offense, as they really had the Giants under complete control last week. The big key was the push the defensive line was getting against the run, as they held Brandon Jacobs to just 52 yards on the ground, and held the Giants as a team under a 100 yards for the game. They also did a real good job against Eli Manning and the passing game, as Manning had just 123 yards through the air, but the Eagles did get some help from the Giants inability to catch the football. Look for this group to cause chaos for 3rd string quarterback Dorsey this week, and the Eagles could run away with this thing early. Bet Philadelphia Eagles -14 at Bookmaker.com
