Cleveland Browns vs. Tennessee Titans NFL Betting Odds & Spread

Written December 4, 2008 by Jason Lowry

Things just can’t get much worse for Browns fans this season, as they are now down to their 3rd string quarterback Ken Dorsey, and this week they take the show on the road to face the 11-1 Tennessee Titans. Last week the Browns nearly pulled off the huge upset over the Colts, but their offense was just as bad as the Colts in a 6-10 loss. The Titans on the other hand made sure they got things going in the right direction after suffering their first loss of the season two weeks ago to the Jets with a 47-10 win over the Lions on Thanksgiving Day. If you are looking to do a little NFL betting on the game this weekend, the oddsmakers have the Titans 14 point favorites over the Browns at BetUS.com

The Browns offense has been pretty sad the last two weeks, scoring just 6 points in both of their last two games, and fumbling away their chance of winning last week against the Colts. The Browns looked like they might actually win this game 6-3, but a fumble by Derek Anderson led to a Colts defensive touchdown, and that was all she wrote for this one. Now its Dorey’s team to lead, and in his very limited action last week he was 0 for 3 passing with an interception, but the Browns seem to be backing this guy and his ability to lead them to a win. The Browns running game was okay, as Jamal Lewis ran it for 77 yards, but they really couldn’t put enough good runs together in this one. Now you have to think this offense is going to struggle going up against the tough defense of the Titans on the road, but stranger things have happened.

Now one way the Browns can come pull off the huge upset this week, is if the defense places the way it did against the Colts last week, as they forced Peyton Manning into one of his more ugly performance as a quarterback over the years. Manning had just 125 yards passing with no scores and 2 interceptions, as the Colts managed just 3 points on offense the whole game. They were solid against the run as well, and that will be the key this week against the Titans, who ran all over the Lions in their last game. Bet Browns +14 at BetUS.com

The Titans can become move one step closer to securing first place in the AFC South and home field through out the playoffs with a win this weekend, and the fact they are playing a depleted Browns offense you would think this would be no problem. Last week against the Texans it was all Chris Johnson and LenDale White, as the running back duo combined for 131 yards and 4 touchdowns. Kerry Collins did his part throwing for 127 yards and keeping the ball out of the Lions hands, and whether it was against the Lions or not, you had to like the way this team responded after getting beat up by the Jets at home the previous week. We look for the Titans to run wild again this week, as they will just ware down this Browns defense.

The Titans defense also got back on track last week, as they held the Lions to just 177 total yards the whole game, and that included just 23 yards on the ground. Now before the Browns were sent to their 3rd string quarterback, you would think that the Browns might put a scare into the Titans this week, but we really just don’t see how Dorsey is going to be able to step in and lead this team with the way they have looked all season long. We think the Titans give the fans a reminder of what this team is about in a big win over the Browns. Bet Titans -14 at BetUS.com
