Griese, a former Bronco, is doing a fine job commanding Tampa’s offense. Griese’s counterpart, Denver QB Jay Cutler has been drawing comparisons to Brett Favre. Last week, Cutler looked more like a journeyman than a future star in a loss to Kansas City. Will Griese get his payback against his old employers? Denver head coach Mike Shannahan has a good offense this season. The Denver O-line is making things happen for a Broncos offense that is ranked 31st in the NFL in total yards. Tampa’s Cover-2 defense has been solid this season ranking 13th in the NFL. Tampa’s font four provides good pressure upfront and they will look to harass Cutler. Cutler has one of the best wideouts in the game with WR Brandon Marshall. Marshall is a game changer that could see a ton of balls thrown in his direction from ultra-athletic Denver QB Jay Cutler. The Broncos vaunted rushing attack will be met by a fast Tampa defense that is allowing 3.6 yards per carry.
Tampa has surprised NFL insiders with an efficient offense that is powered by RB Earnest Graham. Tampa will be met by Broncos D that has provided little in the way of a pass-rush. The lack of a consistent pass-rush could be a fatal flaw in this game against a Tampa offense averaging 25.2 points per game. Denver’s defense is allowing 5.0 yards per carry. If Denver wants to be considered a legit Superbowl contender they will need to improve against the rush. One problem Tampa Bay has had however is a case of the drops by their wideouts.
