Buffalo Bills 2009 NFL Predictions
Written August 22, 2009 by Nick Scarpa
The Buffalo Bills have finished with a 7-9 record their past 3 seasons and more than anything what has been missing is a difference maker on offense. The Bills are hoping the T.O show will be the factor that takes them to the next level. Terrell Owens’s is a perennial locker room menace however and this always seems to negate his performance on the field . Even with the T.O effect Buffalo should be able to crack the.500 mark in 2009 with a more experienced QB in Trent Edwards tossing the pigskin around to playmaking WR’s in Lee Evans and Owens.

The play-calling last season was questionable however and it will be up to Offensive Coordinator Turk Schonert to make the most of his chess pieces. QB Trent Edwards is a smart and accurate passer that is in a make or break season after an inconsistent 2008. The Bills have big-play potential with WR’s Terrell Owens and Lee Evans. The O-Line is in transition but the Bills have some solid players that should do well. The running game will be manned by hard-nosed backup RB Fred Jackson will have to be counted on for the first 3 games of the season until superbly gifted starter Marshawn Lynch returns. Lynch is a power-back that plays with passion and is of All-Pro caliber.
Across the board the Bills defense is not flashy but has quality, ranking 14th in points allowed in 2008. Wide-bodied DT Marcus Stroud is a lane clogger on run defense of blue-chip quality, but the team needs more of a consistent pass-rush. Expected to provide the pass-rushing threat that was missing last season is 11th overall pick DE Aaron Maybin. Maybin has a lightning quick first step and could become an instant force as a pass-rusher. The linebacking crew is undersized but well-schooled with MLB Paul Posluszny providing strong run support. The secondary is very deep and skilled with a slew of low-key “football players”. SS Donte Whitner is a passionate leader that flies around the field with bad intentions. CB’s Terrence McGee and Leodis McKelvin also have great upside. Special teams are a hidden source of strength for Buffalo.
