BYU at Utah State College Football Betting Odds

Written September 30, 2008 by Jay Todd

BYU continues its quest to bust the BCS party. They have put up huge offensive numbers so far this season, and look for that to continue against a horrible Utah State defense. Look for the game to get out of hand really early. The odds makers sure think it will as they have listed BYU as a 29-point favorite over Utah State.

Max Hall and the Cougar offense have put up unlawful numbers so far this season. Hall is completing nearly 75% of his passes and has thrown 15 touchdowns and only two interceptions. BYU also a nice running game, led by Harvey Unga, who has rushed for 366 yards and three scores so far this year. Look for Hall and Unga to have huge days against Utah State.

Utah State has one of the worst defenses in all of college football. The Aggies gave up 66 points to Oregon and 58 to Utah. BYU has better offenses than both of these teams, so look for them to put up a lot of points.

Along with the high powered offense, BYU also have a very stringent defense. They have only given up 44 points in their four games this season, and have shut out two teams in UCLA and Wyoming, two teams that are better quality teams than Utah State.

With such a high powered offense going against a terrible defense, you can expect a huge win for the Cougars. Jay Todd’s choice for who is going to cover the spread is to play BYU -29, behind the play of Max Hall, against the weak defense of Utah State.
