Arizona Cardinals vs. Dallas Cowboys Football Spread
Written October 9, 2008 by Jason Lowry

This weekend the Dallas Cowboys roll out to Arizona to take on the Cardinals. While Dallas comes in with the better record at 4-1, the Cardinals are the team sitting in first place in their division, as they lead the weak NFC West. Both teams are coming off wins, but the Cardinals 41-17 blowout of the Bills, has to be the more impressive win, as Dallas kept the Bengals winless with a 31-22 win at home. The oddsmakers continue to roll with the Cowboys this season, as they are 5 point favorites against Arizona at BetUS.com
The Cowboys head to the road for the 3rd time this season, where they have played some really good football, that included wins of the Browns and Packers. After really forcing the ball to TO against the Redskins, the Cowboys played much better last week against the Bengals, as they got the running game of Marion Barber and Felix Jones rolling again. Barber was the workhorse pounding the ball 23 times for 84 yards, and Jones was electric as he ran 9 times for 96 yards and a score. So far this season whenever Jones gets at least one rushing attempt he has scored, and the only game he didn’t get a carry the Cowboys wound up on the wrong end of the scoreboard. Jason Witten continues to be Tony Romos favorite target as he had 8 catches for 79 yards and score, but Owens wasn’t kept quiet as he had two catches for 67 yards that included a 57 yard strike for a score. With a Cardinals defense that ranks near the bottom, expect the Cowboys stars to have another big weekend.

The Cowboys defense played much better last week as they really shut down the running game of the Bengals, as they were able to manage just 61 yards on the ground. The Bengals were able to do some damage through the air as Carson Palmer threw for 217 yards and 2 scores, but one of those passes wound up in the hand of Dallas linebacker Greg Ellis. Though the outcome was good many still think that this defense needs to play with more discipline. The Cardinals will likely go after this Cowboys defense through the air, and if they can get it going this game might end up a little closer than some expect. Bet Cowboys -5 at BetUS.com
The Cardinals have played some of their best football at home, and they will likely need it this weekend against a Cowboys team that is putting up some solid point totals so far this season. After a shaky start against the Jets, Kurt Warner got back on track throwing for 250 yards and 2 scores against a pretty good Bills defense, and did so without star receiver Anquan Boldin, who will likely miss this week as well. The running game wasn’t able to get much going up and down the field, but Tim Hightower was able to punch it into the endzone for 2 scores, as he continues to get carries in the redzone. Steve Breaston continued to play well in place of Boldin, as he grabbed 7 balls, and led the team with 77 yards receiving, but Larry Fitzgerald stole the spotlight grabbing two touchdown. This offense will have to have it rolling this weekend, and teams have shown that the Cowboys defense can be scored on through the air.
The main concern coming into this one for the Cardinals has to be how their defense is going to handle the pressure of playing the Cowboys offense that has a star player at nearly every single position. The Cardinals did play the Redskins close, so this team has what it takes to stick with the Cowboys. The key to taking down the Cowboys will be getting pressure on quarterback Tony Romo, who is known for making a few mistakes under pressure. Last week the Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson did just that on Bills quarterback Trent Edwards, as he landed a deadly hit that not knocked Edwards out of the game. Bet Arizona +5 at BetUS.com
