Arizona Cardinals vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFL Betting Odds & Spread
Written November 25, 2008 by Jason Lowry

This Thanksgiving evening the NFL treats us to its 3rd game of the game of the day when the Arizona Cardinals travel to take on the Philadelphia Eagles. The Cardinals just couldn’t get it going against the Giants last week, and feel 29-37 at home, but they remain a near lock to go to the playoffs this season, as for the Eagles they got manhandled by the Ravens on the road 36-7, where Donovan McNabb got benched for the 2nd half. For those of you looking to bet on the NFL this weekend, the oddsmakers have the Eagles coming in 2.5 point favorites over the Cardinals at BetUS.com
Now the Cardinals had their chances against the Giants last week, but just couldn’t get the big play when it needed it early on. Kurt Warner threw for an impressive 351 yards, but had just 1 touchdown pass the whole game, and had an interception to go with it. Tim Hightower punched in two short runs for the Cardinals other two scoring plays, but led the team with just 21 yards. For this team to beat a team like the Giants, the Cardinals have to find some way of moving the football on the ground for more than that. This week they face an Eagles team that were not really sure if they know whats going on. Look for Warner to test the Eagles secondary early and often, as its just what this team does.
The Cardinals defense didn’t have its best showing, but it was able to slow down the Giants rushing attack to just 87 yards, but that was most likely due to the fact that Brandon Jacobs didn’t play. The Cardinals did allow Eli Manning to throw for 240 yards and 3 scores, and show everyone that this guy can really throw the football when he needs to. Now the fact that this team didn’t force a turnover all game, and were in it the whole way, says a lot about this team, and we are confident that if these two teams met again the Cardinals could just as easily come out on top. Now the Eagles went from benching McNabb after the veteran quarterback threw 2 interceptions and completed just 8 of 18 passes in the first half, but when Kevin Kolb stepped in it wasn’t much better, as the youngster completed just 10 of 23 passes for 73 yards and 2 more interceptions. This week McNabb is back in the starting lineup, but another bad performance could spell the last time we see McNabb play in an Eagles uniform, as a loss this week ends any remote chance that this team even had of making the playoffs. Westbrook had nothing going on the ground, as he had just 39 yards, and this was just simply a very sad performance from a much better football team than it showed last week against the Ravens.
The Eagles defense did all it could to keep them in the game, as they actually only trailed by 3 points going into the 2nd half, but simply just wore down in the 4th quarter giving up 24 points. Now you can’t expect defenses to be on the field over and over and still not ware down. This week the Eagles better play some better football on the offensive side of things, cause there is no question that the Cardinals want to work this defense, as it only has a few days to recover from last weeks game. If the offense gets it together, we think the defense will be there right behind them, but another turnover happy day, and this one will likely turn into a blowout. Bet Eagles -2.5 at BetUS.com
