Cardinals at Jets Line
Written by Brad Marchetti

Two veteran quarterbacks trying to do their best youthful imitation will meet when the Arizona Cardinals vs New York Jets game kicks off Sunday at 1 PM ET. Brett Favre will lead the Jets after a disappointing loss to the San Diego Chargers on Monday Night Football. Arizona QB Kurt Warner is in peak form (111.7 passer rating 6 TD’s) in his 11th NFL season. Favre has shown some of his own hot flashes (98.7 passer rating) as he gets used to his new surroundings. The Cardinals unfavorable jet lag on the road could come into effect. Arizona covers rarely when on the road as an underdog (23-36-2 last 5 yrs). The NFL odds for the Arizona Cardinals vs New York Jets game is New York -1.
Brett Favre is still settling into the new offense having arrived just over a month ago. Favre can still put some heat on his tosses to his trio of gifted wideouts. Jerricho Cotchery (14 recs. 176 yds. 1 TD) is an upper-tier NFL wideout with good hands. Favre also has nailed WR Chansi Stuckey for 3 TD’s. Laveranues Coles (4.35 40-speed) is developing a repo ire with favre and recorded his first TD against San Diego last week. The Cardinals new look secondary has been very effective allowing the 3rd best yards allowed through the air. The Cardinals D-line is stout wih some young talent and beefy interior road-graders. Jets blue-collar 215 Lb. RB Thomas Jones (400 Lb. Bench-Press) has chopped away at defenses for 4.2 yards per carry. Jones and backup RB Leon Washington (4.35 40-speed) have been a threat but, the Jets expensive O-line as been only slightly above-average. The Cardinals 4-3 defense has decent talent at LB but, Arizona will be challenged by Jets RB’s Thomas Jones and Leon Washington.
New York Jets NT Kris Jenkins has been arguably the best off-season addition in the NFL. Jenkins is a 335 Lb. disruptive force in the middle. The Jets improved front seven will need to play hard to keep up with a high-powered Arizona offense. Cardinals RB Edgerrin James (4.65 40-speed) has lost a step, leaving the Cardinals to air the ball out. The results have been mixed for a pass-heavy Arizona offense led by QB Kurt Warner. Anquan Boldin (6’1″ 217 Lb.) and Larry Fitzgerald (6’3″ 226) are the most potent wideout punch in the NFL and, Warner has been deadly accurate throwing the football to them. The Jets secondary has been o.k but nothing special. Warner has been playing at an All-Pro level so the Jets will need a spirited effort from their defense. New York has been very salty on run defense allowing 3.1 yards per carry so Egerrin James could find a hard time finding running lanes. The NFL betting odds for the Arizona Cardinals vs New York Jets OVERUNDER is at 45 points.
The Cardinals will look to get off to a fast start in this game with their hight flying air attack. The Jets are beat up but the Cardinals do not travel well so the intangibles are even. Arizona has an air of condifidence about them but NY is starting to open up their offense with Favre now. Favre’s status is still up in the air so players need to watch him like a hawk.
Predicted Score: Jets 23, Cardinals 22
