Cards Trade for Holliday
Written July 24, 2009 by Jack Jones
It’s official. ESPN is reporting that the Cardinals have completed a trade for OF Matt Holliday with the Oakland A’s even paying $1.5 million of his salary. The A’s got third baseman Brett Wallace, outfielder Shane Peterson and right-handed pitcher Clayton Mortenson in return. Holliday has had a down year, but he’s played in a tough park out in Oakland and didn’t get much protection in the lineup. Of course now he will be protecting Albert Pujols and how much better can that guy’s numbers be with someone else in the order?
Does this help Alber Pujols win the Triple Crown? If you think so then Sportsbook.com is offering this prop at +250, while the “no” option is listed at -400.
The Cubs are still the favorites to win the NL Central over at BetUS, where our readers get a $500 bonus for a $500 initial deposit, but with the Cards holding a slight lead and the addition of Holliday, now might be a good time to throw down a wager with your baseball betting on St. Louis. The Cardinals are also +650 to win the NL and +1400 to win the World Series right now.
