Carolina Panthers Schedule 2009

Written May 28, 2009 by InfoPlays

carolina-panthers-2009-scheduleCarolina put together their best season since reaching the Super Bowl a few years back. The Panthers finished with a 12-4 record and won the NFC South Division to earn a first-round bye. That bye didn’t help, as the Panthers were stunned by the Arizona Cardinals 33-13 at home in the second round. Carolina brings back a lot of talent and should be a force in the NFC South once again. Odds makers have set their projected win total at 8.5 games in 2009. Now we’ll dissect their schedule to see whether they can reach that mark or not.  See all of the 2009 NFL projected win totals.  If you plan to bet the NFL this fall, you owe it to yourself to take advantage of our $500 match bonus with BetUS.  Just open a new account, deposit at least $500, and you’ll get a $500 bonus!

The Panthers hit the road to start the pre-season with an August 17th meeting at the New York Giants. They stay on the road 5 days later with an August 22nd contest at the Miami Dolphins. Carolina’s first home game of the pre-season takes place August 29th hosting the Baltimore Ravens. Then the Panthers’ final tune-up comes September 3rd at home against the defending champion Pittsburgh Steelers. The competition looks tough in the pre-season, but this should only help better prepare the Panthers for the regular season.  Get your 2009 Carolina Panthers game tickets at StubHub.

Week 1 - Sunday, September 13th at home against the Philadelphia Eagles – The Panthers should be a slight favorite at home to start the season here, and we’ll back the chalk to get the job done.

Week 2 - Sunday, September 20th at the Atlanta Falcons – I see the Falcons being a bit down this season in comparison to last year, but they’ll have what it takes to sneak out a tight home win in Week 2.

Week 3 - Monday, September 28th at the Dallas Cowboys – Dallas wins a great Monday Night match-up for a 3rd straight tight ball game to start the season for Carolina.

Week 5 - Sunday, October 11th at home against the Washington Redskins – The Panthers finally bring out the whoopin’ sticks following a bye week in a blowout home win over the Redskins.

Week 6 - Sunday, October 18th at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Tampa Bay won’t be as good as they were a year ago, but home-field advantage is enough to give the Bucs the nod here.

Week 7 - Sunday, October 25th at home against the Buffalo Bills – The Panthers take it to T.O. and company at home in Week 7.

Week 8 – Sunday, November 1st at the Arizona Cardinals – In a revenge game for the Panthers after losing to Arizona in the playoffs last year, this will be motivation enough to go with Carolina for their lone road win.

Week 9 - Sunday, November 8th at the New Orleans Saints – The Saints get a little payback of their own following two losses to the Panthers last season.

Week 10 - Sunday, November 15th at home against the Atlanta Falcons – Carolina proves that the Falcons are no longer a competitor in the NFC South with a statement home victory.

Week 11 – Thursday, November 19th at home against the Miami Dolphins – Miami simply doesn’t have the firepower to compete with these explosive Panthers on the road, Carolina wins.

Week 12 - Sunday, November 29th at the New York Jets – Mark Sanchez will be NFL ready to beat the Panthers late in the season by Week 12, and the Jets pick up the home win.

Week 13 - Sunday, December 6th at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – The Bucs get put in their place in a huge game for the Panthers near the end of the season.

Week 14 - Sunday, December 13th at the New England Patriots – Carolina’s Jake Delhomme makes too many mistakes for the Panthers to compete on the road against this explosive Patriots’ offense. New England wins going away.

Week 15 - Sunday, December 20th at home against the Minnesota Vikings – A great match-up between two of the best run games in the league, but the Panthers get it done through the air and win at home.

Week 16 – Sunday, December 27th at the New York Giants – Carolina will compete tough in Week 16 against the Giants, but the advantage goes to the home team in the cold weather up in New York.

Week 17 - Sunday, January 3rd at home against the New Orleans Saints – Carolina wins at home to earn their 9th win of the season and that will likely be good enough to win the NFC South.

I project the Carolina Panthers to win 9 games in 2009. They have a great chance to run the table at home, and they should be plenty motivated to steal a game at Arizona in a payback spot. That means I will side with the OVER as the odds makers have projected the Panthers to win 8.5 games this season.
