Jack’s Free Sports Picks: 11/2

November 2, 2009

I did cash in a 4-3 Sunday card overall for a small profit!  But the loss on my 25* NFL G.O.T.Y. leaves a sour taste in my mouth after the Jets outgain the Dolphins 378-104 but lose 31-26.  Two kickoff return TD’s and a defensive TD by Miami costs us the win.  I have 3 Picks slated for Monday and all can be yours with a 1-Day All Sports Pass for $34.95!  I have a 15* Falcons/Saints Total, a 15* NHL Game of the Night and my 20* NBA Monday No-Brainer to help you crush the books tonight! Grab...

2009-10 Orlando Magic Predictions

October 26, 2009

The Orlando Magic will look to build upon last year’s “magical” season, which consisted of a surprising trip to the Eastern Conference finals. Dwight Howard and the boys should be just as strong this year, if not stronger, considering some of the wheeling and dealing that GM Otis Smith took part in this past summer. They did lose some big timers in Hedo Turkoglu and Courtney Lee, but welcome veteran Vince Carter. Therefore, this team’s success should ultimately rely on how well this team...

2009-10 Minnesota Timberwolves Predictions

October 26, 2009

Things have been going downhill for the Minnesota Timberwolves for several years now, but they are at least trying to make a change, and any change at this point is a step in the right direction.  Kevin McHale is out, David Kahn is in and the difficult process of trying to build this team into a contender again begins.  It hasn’t exactly started out well for Kahn, who used the Wovles’ first round draft pick this year to select Spanish star Ricky Rubio, who will likely never play basketball...

2009-10 Utah Jazz Predictions

October 26, 2009

It’s tough to figure out what to make of the Utah Jazz.  This team made the Western Conference Finals in 2007 with most of the same guys on the roster, but last year they were bounced in the first-round of the playoffs by the Lakers without much of a second thought.  Last year they did have to work their way through injury problems, but I don’t know if they have the talent to compete with the star-studded lineups of the Lakers and Spurs this year.  The NBA odds makers seem to agree...

2009-10 Oklahoma City Thunder Predictions

October 26, 2009

The Oklahoma City have been labeled an up-and-coming team, even though they compiled a 23-59 record a year ago.  The biggest reason is that after they started the year 3-29 the team still bounced back to go 20-30 over their final 50 games instead of packing it in.  All of there young stars have been working hard, which has led management to think promising things are coming in the not-too-distant future.  The NBA odds makers don’t think the Thunder will make it over the hump quite yet, as...

2009-10 San Antonio Spurs Predictions

October 26, 2009

The San Antonio Spurs were good enough to win 54 games a year ago, but after a first round playoff loss to the Dallas Mavericks this team realized they needed to get better, and did so in a big way when they landed Richard Jefferson from the Milwaukee Bucks.  San Antonio also gave themselves another option down low by getting Antonio McDyess, turning them into a serious title contender in 2009-10.  The NBA odds makers seem to agree with me as the season total win projections have been set at 54.5. ...

2009-10 New Orleans Hornets Predictions

October 26, 2009

There were high expectations for the New Orleans Hornets entering last season, but too many injuries for a team that was too thin already led to a disappointing first round exit from the playoffs.  Can this team bounce back to the form that helped them take the division two years ago?  Probably not as I’m seeing their season going much the same as it did last year with the NBA odds makers latest projections showing them at 46.5 wins.  The Hornets are also 25-to-1 to win the Western Conference...

2009-10 Memphis Grizzlies Predictions

October 26, 2009

The Memphis Grizzlies have had three horrible years in a row, but with the experience that rookies OJ Mayo, Marc Gasol and Darrell Arthur were able to get a year ago, this team could make a little bit of a jump in 2009-10.  The NBA odds makers don’t necessarily think they will be great as the team is slotted for 27.5 total wins, but that is an increase over the 24 from a season ago.  The odds on Memphis winning the West currently sit at 100-to-1 right now, with the odds to win the NBA Finals...

2009-10 Houston Rockets Predictions

October 26, 2009

The Houston Rockets could be in for a long season.  There isn’t another team in the league that has been hit quite as hard with injuries as this team, losing Yao Ming for what is likely to be the entire season, and Tracy McGrady for a good portion of it.  Add in losing Ron Artest to the LA Lakers and the team is without any of the superstars they had last season.  That is part of the reason why the NBA odds makers have set their season win total projections so low, coming in at 36.5.  The...

2009-10 Dallas Mavericks Predictions

October 26, 2009

The Dallas Mavericks could be a team that sneaks up on people this season.  They went out and added a solid group of three veterans in Drew Gooden, Shawn Marion, and Tim Thomas to go with an already loaded lineup that includes Dirk Nowitzki, Josh Howard, and Jason Kidd.  This team went 50-32 a year ago and there is no reason to believe they can’t be just as good, if not better, in 2009-10.   The NBA odds makers think they’ll be just under that mark, setting their season win total...

2009-10 Washington Wizards Predictions

October 26, 2009

There are a lot of people really high on the Washington Wizards this season, but it’s tough for me to really get behind a team that won 19 games a year ago and call them a contender.  Sure Gilbert Arena played in only two games, but Antawn Jamison was there for 81 and Caron Butler played in 67.  The moves they did make to trade for Randy Foye and Mike Miller are not bad at all, but not exactly a blockbuster that is going to take them over the top.  The NBA odds makers seem to agree with...

2009-10 Portland Trail Blazers Predictions

October 26, 2009

The Portland Trail Blazers will look to build off of last year’s success when they finished in a tie for first in the Western Conference’s Northwest division with the Denver Nuggets.  The Blazers lost in the first round of the playoffs in six games to the Houston Rockets, but this is a young team with a lot of room to improve.  Picking up veteran point-guard Andre Miller in the offseason filled a big need for the Blazers, who will also hopefully get a healthy season out of center Greg...

2009-10 Miami Heat Predictions

October 26, 2009

Dwayne Wade showed why he is one of the best players in the game a year ago, when he took a team that won 15 times in 2007-08 when he played just 51 games to a 43-39 record and a first round playoff loss to the Atlanta Hawks.  Now this team is going to have to make another jump if it wants to keep it’s superstar happy and on the team as he becomes a free agent next summer.  It’ll be up to the young guys (Michael Beasley and Mario Chalmers) to get better.  The NBA odds makers have the...

2009-10 Charlotte Bobcats Predictions

October 26, 2009

The Charlotte Bobcats haven’t had a lot of success in their five year existence, but things seem to be headed in the right direction under second-year coach Larry Brown.  This team has made a flurry of moves since he arrived and now has a tough minded, defensive squad that will allow them to compete in quite a few games.  What the team lacks though is a superstar, which is why they will be a bubble team when it comes to making the playoffs.  With the latest NBA odds the Bobcats are 75-to-1...

2009-10 Denver Nuggets Predictions

October 26, 2009

The Denver Nuggets took some huge steps in the right direction last year, including finally finding someone to dump Allen Iverson to in the Detroit Pistons, plus picking up Chauncey Billups in the process.  The addition of Billups elevated the play of superstar Carmelo Anthony and eventually helped land the Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals, where they lost to the eventual NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers.  The Lakers will again be the biggest obstacle for Denver to make it to the Finals,...

2009-10 Atlanta Hawks Predictions

October 23, 2009

The Atlanta Hawks have made a steady improvement in each of the past five seasons and with some key additions and all the major pieces coming back, there is no reason to think they can’t make another jump from the 47 wins they racked up in 2009-10.  The NBA odds makers don’t really seem to agree with me though, as the over/under win projections is at 44.5.  Their betting lines to win the East stand at 25-to-1 while their chances to win the Finals are 50-to-1. If you are going to bet...

2009-10 Milwaukee Bucks Predictions

October 23, 2009

The Milwaukee Bucks were able to put together a 34-48 record last season despite an array of injuries, so there are some who are optimistic this team can build on that total for the 2009-10 season.  I’m not one of them however as the loss of Richard Jefferson to the Spurs and Charlie Villaneuva to the Pistons shows that this team is focused on rebuilding.  Scott Skiles is a great coach for a young team, but he would have to work some real magic for this team to make the playoffs.  The Bucks...

2009-10 Indiana Pacers Predictions

October 23, 2009

It wasn’t long ago that the Indiana Pacers were contending for the Eastern Conference’s trip to the NBA Finals, but after three straight seasons of missing the playoffs this team would just like to once again reach the postseason.  The good news is that with Danny Granger, anything is possible.  This team has had injury problems the last three years though, and will have to stay healthy if they are going to give their fans something to cheer about.  The NBA odds makers have projected...

2009-10 Detroit Pistons Predictions

October 23, 2009

The Detroit Pistons are kind of a tough team to get a handle on.  Trading Chauncey Billups away for Allen Iverson seemed to be an upgrade at the time, but was disastrous.  The good part about that deal though is Iverson’s expiring contract went off the books and the team was able to go out and sign Ben Gordon and Charlie Villaneuva.  Joe Dumars thinks that changes in the way officials call the game mean that tough, physical defense is a thing of the past, so while those two guys might not...

2009-10 Cleveland Cavaliers Predictions

October 23, 2009

The Cleveland Cavs world revolves around LeBron James.  That’s obviously good with his immense skill set, but you have to wonder how much of a problem it is going to be with all of the questions on where he’s going to be heading next year.  You have to think that everyone will be focused on the here and now, since they have a great shot at getting back to the NBA Finals.  The NBA odds makers agree, listing the Cavs as +140 to win the East and +300 to win the Championship.  Their over/under...

2009-10 Chicago Bulls Predictions

October 23, 2009

Chicago Bulls fans have a lot to be excited about heading into this season.  The team finished strong down the stretch by winning 12 of their last 16 games to make the post-season, then they took the Boston Celtics to seven games before bowing out.  Sure, the team lost Ben Gordon, who led the team in scoring the past four seasons, and a deal for Carlos Boozer fell through but the rise of Derrick Rose and solid play down the stretch fro Joakim Noah makes me think this team has a bright future. ...

2009-10 Sacramento Kings Predictions

October 22, 2009

The days of the Sacramento Kings being a contender out West are a distant memory.  Arco Arena used to be one of the toughest places to play, but the fans stayed at home instead of heading in to watch a team that went 17-65 overall and 11-30 at home.  Things didn’t go much better when searching for a new head coach as the team ended up with Paul Westphal after being shunned by Eddie Jordan and Kurt Rambis.  They are projected by the NBA odds makers to be one of the worst teams again this...

2009-10 Phoenix Suns Predictions

October 22, 2009

The Phoenix Suns were supposed to be heading into rebuilding mode when they shipped Shaquille O’Neal over to the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer, but the team went ahead and extended Steve Nash’s contract by a couple of years and resigned Grant Hill.  Management also said that as long as Amar’e Stoudemire proved he could stay healthy they would extend his deal at the beginning of the season.  Even so, the NBA lines makers aren’t all that confident in this team as Phoenix...

2009-10 LA Lakers Predictions

October 22, 2009

The LA Lakers come into this season with a huge target on their backs.  Not only did they win the NBA Finals last season, but they are also stacked with talent and favored to bring home the hardware again next June.  This team could be even better with Ron Artest replacing Trevor Ariza and with Andrew Bynum once again healthy to start the season.  The question marks are if Bynum can stay healthy and if Artest can fit in.  The NBA odds makers obviously think so as the Lakers are -3000 favorites...

2009-10 LA Clippers Predictions

October 22, 2009

The LA Clippers have been in the basement of the league for more than their fair share of time, but there is hope for this team as they have a bunch of young talent.  The latest addition was with the No. 1 pick in last summer’s NBA draft, where they opted for Blake Griffin out of Oklahoma.  I suppose that was the good news during a year in which they put up a 19-63 record while being outscored by almost double digits every game.  The NBA odds makers aren’t seeing a big jump right away...

2009-10 Golden State Warriors Predictions

October 22, 2009

The Golden State Warriors are not getting much attention for the upcoming 2009-10 season, largely because of their 29-53 record a year ago.  However, this was the league’s youngest team, plus, they never did have their full lineup of players on the floor together at the same time.  This year you won’t find their star, Monta Ellis, missing the first half of the season which should mean they are off to a better start.  This is a team that could be somewhat of a sleeper, especially when...

2009-10 Toronto Raptors Predictions

October 21, 2009

The pressure is on the Toronto Raptors to get off to a fast start this season.  Chris Bosh is expected to opt out of his contract at the end of the season, and he’ll be one of the sought after guys in a class that could include LeBron James and DeWayne Wade.  I think this team has plenty of weapons to contend in the East, but if things don’t start out well the team might be forced to trade Bosh instead of losing him to free agency and being left with nothing in return.  The NBA odds...

2009-10 Philadelphia 76ers Predictions

October 21, 2009

For the past few seasons, the Philadelphia 76ers have been good enough to make the playoffs, but not quite good enough to get out of the first round.  It’s not likely much will be different this year, except maybe they will be left out of the playoffs all together.  To me the team losing Andre Miller is a little too much to overcome and the NBA odds makers seem to agree with me as Philly is listed as a 40-to-1 favorite to win the East and a 80-to-1 favorite to win the NBA Finals.  If you...

2009-10 New York Knicks Predictions

October 21, 2009

The Mike D’Antoni era in New York did not start out as smoothly as some had hoped, but to me there was plenty to be happy about.  This team won 32 games compared to 23 the year before, all while dealing with Stephon Marbury sitting out and Eddy Curry playing just three games.  The team set a record with 23 players seeing floor time, so the transition year wasn’t easy to D’Antoni’s up-tempo style.  This team still doesn’t have a load of talent, but I love D’Antoni...

2009-10 New Jersey Nets Predictions

October 21, 2009

There isn’t a lot of hoping coming out of New Jersey for the upcoming 2009-10 season.  For the second straight year the Nets dealt a superstar away in order to cut costs and to clear room to make a run at a big free agent next summer.  Last year it was Richard Jefferson, this year they sent Vince Carter to Orlando in exchange for Courtney Lee, Rafer Alston and Tony Battie.  There is still plenty of talent on this team as the team has high hopes for Lee, Devin Harris, and Brook Lopez.  However,...

2009-10 Boston Celtics Predictions

October 21, 2009

One of the teams that is flying under the radar heading into the season is the Boston Celtics.  Even though the won the NBA title in 07-08 and their premature exit from last year’s playoffs was due to Kevin Garnett’s knee problems, this team isn’t getting much love due to their stars getting up there in age.  Sure Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce are now into their 30’s, plus they added some old legs in Rasheed Wallace, but last year this squad started out 44-12 and looked...

2009-10 New Orleans Hornets Predictions

October 7, 2009

The Hornets had a disappointing 2008-09 season even though the team went 49-33 straight-up (SU) and 35-45-2 against the spread (ATS).  The team lost Tyson Chandler in the off-season but made a solid move in adding Emeka Okafor.  Let’s take a look at what to expect from New Orleans this season and if they are a team to look out for when making your NBA picks once the season starts.  If you are going to be doing any NBA betting this year then make sure you sign up at BetUS to take advantage...

Timberwolves, NBA Can’t Afford Ricky Rubio

August 10, 2009

The NBA should have seen this coming.  With the growing popularity of professional basketball overseas, coupled with the current clause in the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement which limits player buyouts from outside of the NBA to $500,000, the world’s biggest and richest basketball league may miss out on some of the best non-American players, including this year’s overall number 5 pick in the NBA draft, Ricky Rubio.  Boston.com reports that Rubio wants to play in the NBA...

LeBron James Talks About Dunks, Contracts, & Shaq

August 8, 2009

LeBron James recently talked to the National Association of Black Journalists Sports Taskforce about several hot topics, including getting dunked on, the addition of Shaquille O’Neal to the Cavs, not shaking hands after the Cavs were eliminated from the playoffs, and his contract extension. He said that it is Nike’s policy to confiscate video of pick-up games, which I can buy. Maybe they really just thought they should enforce the policy when LeBron got dunked on because they thought...

Richard Jefferson Off to Great Start with Spurs

August 7, 2009

What a summer it has been for Richard Jefferson.  First, he gets traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to the San Antonio Spurs, which he should be delighted about since he’s now on a team contending for an NBA title.  Currently the NBA odds makers over at BetUS have the Spurs at +1000 to win this year’s title. Then things really started to get interesting as he called off his wedding to Keish Ni’Cole Nichols on the day of their nuptials were supposed to take place, and now the NY Post...

Allen Iverson to Greece?

August 4, 2009

Is it possible that Allen Iverson will head to Greece?  Well it is being reported that the Greece Olympiacos are going to offer Allen Iverson a two year, $10 million contract to head overseas.  It seems that teams over in Europe are now prepared to pay players who have a large fan base if NBA teams stall to get them signed.  I don’t know if Iverson is going to take this offer or if he is going to wait around for an NBA team to step up to the table, but I’m a little confused why no...

NBA Odds Updated for Okafor-Chandler Trade

July 28, 2009

The Sporting News reports that a trade between the Charlotte Bobcats and the New Orleans Hornets involving Emeka Okafor and Tyson Chandler has been finalized.  There are no clear details as to the conditions of the trade, but it does appear that Okafor will be with the Hornets next year, while Chandler will be a Bobcat. This should be a good move for the Hornets, who need to free up some cap room to be sure they can keep Chris Paul around as long as they possibly can.  The move is also a pretty...

Lakers vs Heat: Who Gets Lamar Odom?

July 27, 2009

Yahoo! Sports is currently reporting that their sources say that Lamar Odom is leaning toward signing with with Miami Heat.  Nothing is final, but it seems the Heat have become the front-runners in the negotiations for Odom. Laker’s owner, Jerry Buss, originally offered Odom a four-year $36 million contract, with $30 million of that guaranteed, however, has since pulled the offer from the table.  The offer from Miami is reportedly for five years and $34 million, or a four-year deal for less...

Video of Lebron James Getting Dunked On

July 22, 2009

Remember the story where Xaiver college basketball player, Jordan Crawford dunked on NBA superstar Lebron James at the Lebron James Skills Academy, but how the video was confiscated by Nike officials?  Well, apparently someone had their mobile phone camcorder running and they’ve gotten the video of Jordan Crawford dunking on Lebron James at TMZ. First of all, the quality of the video is pretty poor, and there’s no real telling exactly who you are seeing in the video.  I had to watch...

NBA Power Rankings: Summer 2009

July 21, 2009

I was taking a look at the Hoop Doctors NBA Power Rankings for the Summer of 2009 and feel like it’s a pretty quality read.  Of course I have some beef with their selections but when you are thinking about the NBA in July you can’t really see who is playing well out on the court, you are only left with talking about it. It starts off with the San Antonio Spurs being the top team, which I have to disagree with.  This team is getting old with Duncan and Ginobili being past their prime....

Orlando Magic Los Angeles Lakers Game 5 Predictions

June 13, 2009

It looked as though the Orlando Magic were going to tie the series 2-2, but a big 3-pointer from Derek Fisher and another poor performance in overtime have the Magic with their backs against the wall and the Los Angeles Lakers just one game away from another NBA Championship. Kobe Bryant led the way for the Lakers with 32 points, but the all-star was just 11-31 from the floor, but did help out his team with 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Both Pau Gasol and Trevor Ariza each had solid games with 16 points...

Orlando Magic Los Angeles Lakers Game 4 Predictions

June 10, 2009

With a 108-104 win in game 3, the Orlando Magic have made sure the Los Angeles Lakers will not completely run away with the NBA Finals. After suffering a heartbreaker in game 2 , the Magic responded to shoot an NBA playoff record 62.5% from the floor, and what was more impressive was that 5 different Magic players scored 18 points or more. Both Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis came in with a team high 21 points, while Rafer Alston easily had his best game of the series with 20 points, and Hedo Turkoglu...

Orlando Magic Los Angeles Lakers Game 3 Predictions

June 8, 2009

The Los Angeles Lakers have done their job, as they head to Orlando for game 3 up 2-0, but it wasn’t pretty as the Lakers were a Courtney Lee layup away from losing all the momentum they gained from their dominating game 1 performance. Fortunately for the Lakers they were able to hold off the Magic for a 101-96 win in overtime.  The Lakers got another strong performance from Kobe Bryant, as the superstar dropped 29 points in game 2, after scoring 40 in game 1. Pau Gasol was on his game scoring...

2009 NBA Finals Game 2 Recap: Lakers Take 2-0 Lead Over Magic

June 8, 2009

The NBA Finals aren’t over just yet, but the Lakers took a very big step toward another NBA Championship with their overtime win against the Orlando Magic in Los Angeles Sunday night.  With their 101-96 victory, the Lakers move to a commanding 2-0 lead in the series, just two wins away from the franchise’s 15th Finals Championship. There is some good news for the Orlando Magic with the series moving to Orlando Tuesday for three straight games, but last night’s loss was particularly...

Los Angeles Lakers Orlando Magic Game 2 Predictions

June 6, 2009

The Los Angeles Lakers made sure their was no magic involved in their 100-75 game 1 win over the Orlando Magic. If anything the Lakers made a statement that they are all business and ready to capture that trophy.  It was all Kobe Bryant in game 1, as he dropped in a career finals high of 40 points and nearly had a triple double with 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Pau Gasol added 16 points and 18 rebounds, while fellow big man Andrew Bynum had 9 points and 9 rebounds in just 22 minutes. Lamar Odom came...

Los Angeles Lakers Orlando Magic Game 1 Predictions

June 3, 2009

The Los Angeles Lakers and Orlando Magic are set to get the 2009 NBA Finals underway this Thursday when the two teams meet up in LA for game 1 of the best of seven series. The Lakers looked a little sluggish at times this postseason, but come into the finals playing some of their best basketball after finishing off the Denver Nuggets in 6 games in the Western Conference Finals. The Magic had all they could handle against the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, needing all seven games to...

Orlando Magic Cleveland Cavaliers Game 6 Predictions

May 29, 2009

The Cleveland Cavaliers championship hopes are still alive after an impressive 112-102 victory in game 5, but in order to for a game 7 the Cavs are going to have to win in Orlando this Saturday. LeBron James had another outstanding performance recording a triple-doube in game 5. James had 37 points, 14 rebounds, and 12 assists. The real story was the play of the rest of the team, as 4 other players scored in double figures. Mo Williams dropped in 24 points, and it was the first time a Cavs player...

Denver Nuggets Los Angeles Lakers Game 6 Predictions

May 28, 2009

As bad as the Lakers have looked at times in this series, they are the ones in complete control after there 103-94 game 5 victory in LA. The Lakers now have a 3-2 series lead over the Denver Nuggets, who will try and even up the series and force a decisive game 7 with a game 6 victory Friday night in Denver. In game 5 it wasn’t Kobe Bryant that did all the damage, Bryant still had a team high 22 points, but the rest of the team came to play. Pau Gasol had 14 points and 10 rebounds, both...

Magic Cavs Betting

May 28, 2009

The Eastern Conference Finals picks back up Thursday night when the Orlando Magic square off against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 and JustBet Sportsbook has your hot NBA playoff picks right here. The Magic took a commanding 3-1 series lead in Game 4 after defeating the Cavaliers 116-114 in OT. The ‘oddsmakers’ aren’t quite as high on the Cavs as they were in Games 1 and 2 as they are now just 7.5-point favorites with the ‘total’ set at 190.5, the highest target in this series. The...

Cleveland Cavaliers Orlando Magic Game 5 Predictions

May 28, 2009

The Orlando Magic are just 1 win away from going back to the NBA Finals for the first the first time since 1995. The Magic took a commanding 3-1 series lead with their thrilling 116-114 overtime win in game 4. Dwight Howard was a force down low scoring 27 points with 14 rebounds, but he wasn’t the only Magic doing damage, as 4 other players reached double-figures. Rafer Alston played exceptionally well once again, scoring 26 points on 10-17 shooting. Rashard Lewis and reserver Michael Pietrus...

Los Angeles Lakers Denver Nuggets Game 5 Predictions

May 26, 2009

The Denver Nuggets made sure that the Los Angeles Lakers did not win back to back games on their home floor, as the Nuggets controlled the Lakers in a 120-101 game 4 win. The series is now tied up at 2 games a piece, but the series shifts back to LA where the Lakers will look to hold on to their home court advantage.  The Nuggets were the definition of balance in game 4, as 7 different players scored in double figures. Chauncey Billups had 24 points to lead all starters, but J.R. Smith came up huge...

Orlando Magic Cleveland Cavaliers Game

May 25, 2009

The Orlando Magic made sure the Cleveland Cavaliers celebration was short lived, as the Magic regained the Eastern Conference series lead with a 99-89 win in game 3. The Magic now lead the series 2 games to 1, and will look to take a 3-1 lead when the two teams meet up for game 4 Tuesday night.  After a mediocre game 2 Dwight Howard was much more effective in game 3 scoring 24 points and grabbing 9 rebounds, but the big man was limited to just 28 minutes because of foul trouble. Rafer Alston finally...

Denver Nuggets Los Angeles Lakers Game 4 Predictions

May 25, 2009

After struggling to take care of the Nuggets on their home floor in the first two games, the Los Angeles Lakers went into Denver and stole game 3 103-97. The Nuggets had a 8-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, but were outscored 32-18 in the final period of play. Kobe Bryant once again put the Lakers on his back, as the all-star dropped in 41 points to go along with his 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Pau Gasol was a little more effective in game 3 with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Trevor...

Orlando Magic Cleveland Cavaliers Game 3 Predictions

May 23, 2009

LeBron James game winning 3-pointer was easily the biggest shot in Cavaliers history, as it not only evened the series up at 1-1, but kept the Cavs championship run alive. With games 3 and 4 heading to Orlando it would have been all but over for the Cavs had they fell down 0-2. James led all scorers with 35 points, and its a shock that the Magic even gave this guy a shot to win the game. Mo Williams dropped in 19 points, but continued to struggle with his shot going 7-21 from the floor. Delonte...

Denver Nuggets Los Angeles Lakers Game 3 Predictions

May 22, 2009

After failing to come away with the win in game 1, the Denver Nuggets went into Los Angeles and beat the Lakers 106-103 to even the series at 1 game a piece. Carmelo Anthony continues to play at a level many are not use to seeing on this stage, as Anthony dropped in 34 points and 9 rebounds in game 2. The Nuggets also got 27 points from Chauncey Billups and 16 from both Kenyon Martin and Linas Kleiza. The 16 off the bench from Kleiza was huge for the Nuggets, as J.R. Smith was way off scoring just...

Cleveland Cavalier Orlando Magic Game 2 Predictions

May 21, 2009

The Orlando Magic made sure the Cleveland Cavaliers postseason run was no longer perfect, as the Magic stole game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals with a dramatic 107-106 come from behind victory. Dwight Howard scored 30 points and had 13 rebounds, but the most impressive feat of the night came in the opening minute when he dunked a ball so hard the shot clock fell off the backboard. Los Angeles Lakers Denver Nuggets Game 2 Predictions

May 21, 2009

The Denver Nuggets nearly stole game 1 away from the Los Angeles Lakers, but thanks to Kobe Bryant the Lakers were able to walk away with a 105-103 victory. Byrant had a game high 40 points, and really picked it up at the end of the game, including 6 straight free throws to end the game in the final 30 seconds. It was a good thing Bryant came out strong, as the rest of the Lakers really struggled to get it going. Pau Gasol had 13 points and 14 rebounds and Dereck Fisher also chipped in 13, but...

Cleveland Cavaliers Orlando Magic Game 1 Predictions

May 19, 2009

The Cleveland Cavaliers will look to keep their perfect record in the playoffs intact when they take on the Orlando Magic in game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Cavaliers made easy work of the Detroit Pistons in round 1, sweeping Detroit in 4 games, and it wasn’t much harder in the 2nd round, as the Cavs went on to sweep the Atlanta Hawks in 4 games. The Magic had a little tougher task, as they actually fell behind to the Philadelphia 76ers 1 games to 2, but rebounded to win the...

Cavs/Magic Series Preview

May 19, 2009

The Cleveland Cavaliers have coasted their way through the playoffs so far, easily sweeping both the Detroit Pistons and the Atlanta Hawks.  Now they finally know who their next opponent will be as the Orlando Magic took care of the Boston Celtics in Game 7.  This will be the first trip to the Eastern Conference Finals for the Magic since the 1995-96 season when Shaq and Penny were swept by Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls.  The Cavs are no stranger to the finals though as they beat out the...

Nuggets/Lakers Series Preview

May 19, 2009

You can probably save the talk about defense.  The series between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets matches up two of the best offenses in the league, and two of the most prolific scorers in the game in Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony.  Bryant was third in the league in scoring, and he scored 31 ppg on 48% in four games against Denver this year.  Anthony was fifth in scoring, but struggled against the Lakers with under 15 ppg.  Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza are a couple of talented...

Los Angeles Lakers Denver Nuggets Game 1 Predictions

May 18, 2009

The Western Conference Finals are set, as the No.1 seeded Los Angeles Lakers are ready to take on the No.2 seeded Denver Nuggets. While the Nuggets have cruised through the first two rounds, the Lakers have had some troubles and are no longer a lock to make it back to the NBA Finals. The Nuggets took care of the New Orleans Hornets in the first round 4 games to 1, and then did the same to the Dallas Mavericks in round 2. The Lakers won their first round matchup with the Utah Jazz 4 games to 1, but...

Sunday Afternoon the Los Angeles Lakers will try an avoid being upset and knocked out of the playoffs when they host the Houston Rockets in game 7 of their Western Conference Semifinal matchup. After beating the Rockets by 40 points in game 5, the Lakers struggled to get much of anything going at Houston, as the Rockets took game 6 95-80. The Rockets were led by Luis Scola and Aaron Brooks. Brooks led the way for the Rockets with 26 points, while Scola added 24 points and 12 rebounds. The Rockets...

Los Angeles Lakers Houston Rockets Game 6 Predictions

May 14, 2009

Its scary to see what the Los Angeles Lakers can do when they decide to play basketball, as they dominated the Houston Rockets 118-78 in a blowout win in game 5. With the win the Lakers take a 3-2 series lead, and are just one win away from moving on the Western Conference Finals. After an off night in game 4, Kobe Bryant returned to form scoring 26 points to lead all players. The Lakers also got 16 points from Pau Gasol, 13 from Trevor Ariza, and 14 from Andrew Bynum. That wasn’t it for...

Orlando Magic Boston Celtics Game 6 Predictions

May 14, 2009

The Orlando Magic looked as though they had game 5 wrapped up, as they had a 10 point lead with just a little over 5 minutes to play, but the defending champion Boston Celtics came through when it mattered most and stole the game 92-88. The win for the Celtics made sure that worst case scenario there will be a game 7 in Boston. In game 5 the Celtics got another big game from Glen Davis, as he dropped in a game high 22 points. Paul Pierce continued to play well with 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 8...

Denver Nuggets Dallas Mavericks Game 5 Predictions

May 13, 2009

On Wednesday the Dallas Mavericks will look to try and extend their series with the Denver Nuggets when the two teams meet up in Denver for game 5 of the 2nd round Western Conference series. In game 4 the Mavericks won a physical showdown on their home court 119-117, thanks in big part to their all-star Dirk Nowitzki, as Dirk led all scorers with 44 points and helped out on the boards with 13 rebounds. Dallas also got 21 points and 11 rebounds from Josh Howard, but he wasn’t the only one doing...

Los Angeles Lakers Houston Rockets Game 5 Predictions

May 12, 2009

The Houston Rockets might have lost another star piece to their team, with Yao Ming out for the rest of the season, but they weren’t about to lose game 4 at home, as the Rockets took down the Los Angeles Lakers 99-87 to even the series at 2 games a piece. A big reason that the Rockets were so good in game 4, is Aaron Brooks lit it up from the floor scoring a game high 34 points. The Rockets also got a surprising 23 points from Shane Battier, who hit five 3-pointers to help pick up the scoring....

Boston Celtics Orlando Magic Game 5 Predictions

May 12, 2009

It was a spectacular finish to game 4 for the Boston Celtics, as Glen “Big Baby” Davis hit the game winning jump shot to give Boston a 95-94 win over Orlando Magic. With that shot the Celtics not only tied up the series at 2 games a piece, but took back home court advantage as well. The Celtics also got 12 points...

Cleveland Cavaliers at Atlanta Hawks Game 4

May 11, 2009

Right now it is scary just how good LeBron James is playing and that means that the Atlanta Hawks’ chances of winning this series are slim to none, and slim just left town.  Game 3 was actually pretty close with Atlanta just down one at the half, but it got ugly quickly as the Cavs pulled away for a 97-82 win.  James had 47 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists to fall just two dimes short of the triple-double.  Can Cleveland complete the sweep?  The NBA spreads suggest they do as Cleveland...

Dallas Mavericks Denver Nuggets Game 4 Predictions

May 11, 2009

Monday night the Denver Nuggets will try and finish off the Dallas Mavericks in style, as the Nuggets jumped up to a 3-0 series lead, and are just one win away from a trip to the Western Conference Finals. This series very easily could have been 2-1, as the refs blew a call late in the game when Antoine Wright of the Mavericks tried to waste a foul on Carmelo Anthony, but the refs did not make the call and Anthony went on to hit the game winning 3-pointer to give the Nuggets a shocking 106-105...

Cleveland Cavaliers Atlanta Hawks Game 4 Predictions

May 11, 2009

The Cleveland Cavaliers look to make it a perfect 8-0 start to the postseason, as they look to sweep the Atlanta Hawks in game 4 of this Eastern Conference Semifinal matchup. The Cavs took a 3-0 series lead with a convincing 97-82 to win on the road in game 3. LeBron James was outstanding in game 3, scoring 47 points with 12 rebounds and 8 assists. While James nearly outscored the rest of his team combined, the Cavs id get double digit scoring from three other players, as Zyndrunas Ilgauskas had...

Orlando Magic Boston Celtics Game 4 Predictions

May 9, 2009

The Orlando Magic moved one game closer to a spot in the Eastern Conference Finals, as they took down the Boston Celtics 117-96 in game 3 to take a 2-1 series lead. The Magic were without starting point guard Rafer Alston, but that didn’t matter as Rashard Lewis had a game high 28 points and Hedo Turkoglu had 24 points. What was really surprising was the Magic won this game with Dwight Howard sitting on the bench for most of the game with foul trouble. Howard still had 17 points and 14 rebounds...

Los Angeles Lakers Houston Rockets Game 3 Predictions

May 8, 2009

After a rough game 1, where the Houston Rockets won convincingly 100-92, the Los Angeles Lakers respond with a 111-98 win in game 2 to tie the series up at 1-1. The big story coming from game 2, was how physical the game was, as Ron Artest for the Rockets and Dereck Fisher of the Lakers were both ejected on separate plays, and even Kobe Bryant picked up a technical foul. While Artest is back for game 3, Fisher is suspended for game 3. In game 2 it was all Bryant, as Kobe dropped 40 on the Rockets....

Boston Celtics Orlando Magic Game 3 Predictions

May 8, 2009

The Orlando Magic and the Boston Celtics are all tied up at 1-1, as the Celtics came away with a crucial 112-94 win in game 2 to even the series. The Celtics were dominated at time in game 1, and many thought they should of lost that game by 20+ points. In game 2 it was a much different story, as the Celtics prety much had control throughout. Rajon Rondo was back to his old ways of being a force for the Celtics, as Rondo came away his third triple-double of the playoffs. Rondo had 15 points, 11...

Not Shooting Uncontested Baskets

May 7, 2009

It’s a painful thing to watch when your team is up by quite a few points and close to covering.  Then a player breaks away and has an easy chance to score a basket or touchdown, but instead elects to run out the clock.  If you had the over in Game 1 of the Rockets/Lakers series then you know what I’ talking about.  You couldn’t have felt good about your play most of the night, as the Lakers shot just 2-for-18 from behind the arc and looked rusty all night. However, the game was...

Boston Celtics Orlando Magic Game 2 Predictions

May 6, 2009

Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic were able to hold on and upset the Boston Celtics in game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals 95-90, but it was all Orlando early. The Magic had a 28 point lead early in the second half, but really struggled at the end of the 3rd quarter and the 4th quarter. Howard led the way for the Magic with 16 points and 22 rebounds, but it wasn’t just the big man doing work, as Rashard Lewis had 18 and Hedo Turkoglu dropped in 15 points. In the absence of Courtney...

Los Angeles Lakers Houston Rockets Game 2 Predictions

May 6, 2009

In game 1 the Rockets came into LA and really controlled the game from start to finish, as they never trailed at the end of a period on their way to a 100-92 victory. The Rockets got a huge game from Yao Ming, who had 28 points and 10 rebounds, including a couple big baskets after missing a short period of time late in the game...

Denver Nuggets Dallas Mavericks Game 2 Predictions

May 5, 2009

It wasn’t exactly pretty for the Denver Nuggets in their game 1 win over the Dallas Mavericks, but the important thing is they won the game and keep home court advantage. The Nuggets won the game 109-95, but really came out flat in the first half, especially in the first quarter where they scored just 16 points and fell behind by 8 points. The Nuggets were led by an unusual name, as Nene led the way with 24 points. The Nuggets also got 23 points from Carmelo Anthony, who really shot the ball...

Cleveland Cavaliers Atlanta Hawks Game 1 Predictions

May 5, 2009

The No.1 seeded Cleveland Cavaliers will continue on their quest to the NBA Finals this Tuesday when they begin their 2nd round series with the Atlanta Hawks. The Cavaliers will have had 8 days off before this series gets underway, while the Hawks just got down with their series with the Miami Heat on Sunday. The reason for that is the Cavaliers cruised past the Detroit Pistons in the first round winning the first four games to end the series in a sweep, while the Hawks needed 7 games to get past...

May 2, 2009

Another series in the Eastern Conference is headed to a game 7, as the Miami Heat stayed alive in their opening round series with the Atlanta Hawks with a 98-72 win in game 6. The big difference between the Heat Hawks series and that of the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics, is there hasn’t been a close game yet, as the closest game was a 10-point Atlanta win in game 4. In game 6 Dwayne Wade went off on the Hawks scoring 41 points, but he also got some help from a couple of his rookie teammates,...

Miami Heat Atlanta Hawks Game 6 Predictions

April 30, 2009

It has been a back and forth battle between the Miami Heat and the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the playoffs, and it’s not over yet. The Hawks are coming off a solid 106-91 win in the always crucial game 5, but the Heat will have a chance to even the series at 3 games a piece if they can win on their home court Friday night. In game 5 it was a very physical showdown between these two teams, as a number of hard fouls were handed out by both teams. In game 5 the Hawks finally got some...

New Orleans Hornets at Denver Nuggets Game 5 Preview

April 29, 2009

The Denver Nuggets’ historic blowout win of the New Orleans Hornets in Game 4 left more than just the losers red-faced, it left Chauncey Billups stunned as well. After recently winning the NBA’s Sportsmanship Award, Billups claimed that it was almost embarrassing for his Nuggets to be up by that much in some strange sort of way. He said that he plays with integrity and doesn’t want to show up his opponents, but at the same time his team wanted to continue to play hard for the full 48 minutes....

NBA Playoffs Preview: Miami Heat at Atlanta Hawks Game 5

April 29, 2009

Zaza Pachulia is known as a backup center for Atlanta, playing a few minutes here and there. He’s rugged and far from graceful, handling the dirty work while letting others claim the glory. But in the playoffs he has been anything but a role player. For two years running, this native from Georgia had taken a lead role. Just last postseason, Pachulia fired up Atlanta by going forehead-to-forehead with Celtics’ All-Star Kevin Garnett. That move sent a message, showing that his underdog team...
