2011-12 NBA Predictions - December 15, 2011

At one point, it appeared we were not going to have an NBA season as players and owners simply couldn’t come to an agreement. Cooler heads prevailed, and we will now be having a shortened 66-game schedule. The first day of the regular season will be on December 25th with several key match-ups on tap. That includes an NBA Finals rematch between the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat. With a new season upon us, it’s now time to make my predictions on where every team will finish in their respective...

2011-12 Cleveland Cavaliers Predictions - December 15, 2011

Things couldn’t have gone much worse for the Cleveland Cavaliers in their first season without the services of LeBron James. The Cavaliers finished with the worst record in the Eastern Conference at 19-63. They set an NBA record with 26 straight losses in the midst of a 8-45.  It was a difficult season for the fans and everyone involved with the organization, including first year head coach Byron Scott. The immediate future doesn’t look great, but there is reason to be excited for Cavaliers...

2011-12 Detroit Pistons Predictions - December 15, 2011

The Detroit Pistons are hoping a change up top can get this team headed in the right direction. Former New Jersey Nets head coach Lawrence Frank has taken over the Piston’s job, replacing John Kuester. Detroit won just 57 games in two seasons under Kuester, finishing up with a 30-52 record last season. While it may take some time for Frank to get the Pistons competitive in the East, many believe the future is bright in Detroit after this years draft. They used the No. 8 pick in the first round...

2011-12 Golden State Warriors Predictions - December 15, 2011

The Golden State Warriors are coming off a 36-46 season in the Western Conference’s Pacific Division. That finish was good enough for the third-best record in the division, which is known widely to be one of the worst in the NBA. The Warriors have elected to hire Mark Jackson to be their next head coach this offseason. Jackson played in the league from 1987 to 2004 while playing on seven different teams, most notably the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers. He was also a commentator for ESPN and...

2011-12 Milwaukee Bucks Predictions - December 15, 2011

The Milwaukee Bucks will look to rebound from a disappointing 2010-11 season. The Bucks were believed to be primed to make a big push in the Eastern Conference after finishing 46-36 the previous season, but ended up going just 35-57. They finished two-games behind the Pacers for the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs.  The Bucks played great defensively last year, but simply didn’t have the scoring necessary to consistently win games. In order to get the offense going...

2011-12 Indiana Pacers Predictions - December 15, 2011

Thanks to a top heavy Eastern Conference, the Indiana Pacers were able to sneak into the playoffs as the No. 8 seed, despite finishing with an overall record of 37-45. Many expected the Pacers to get swept by the Chicago Bulls in the first round, but instead gave the No. 1 seed  all they could handle in a thrilling 6-games series. Indiana really seemed to turn their season around once they fired head coach Jim O’Brien, allowing Frank Vogel to take over the rest of the way. The Pacers finished...

2011-12 Chicago Bulls Predictions - December 15, 2011

The Chicago Bulls finished with an NBA-best 62-20 regular season record last year, but would lose to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals. First year head coach Tom Thibodeau turned the Bulls into one of the league’s best defensive teams with a relentless attack every single time they took the floor. Sensational point guard Derrick Rose won the MVP in just his third season in the league, while Thibodeau took home Coach of the Year honors. The big knock on the Bulls was their lack...

Odds to Win NBA Finals 2012 - June 13, 2011

The Dallas Mavericks won the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history this past season after beating the Miami Heat in six games to capture the Larry O’Brien Trophy. The Heat were favorites to win the championship heading into the season, but fell just a few games short. Dallas was the team that made all the plays in the fourth quarter, while Lebron James and company appeared to fold under the pressure. In fact, NBA Finals MVP Dirk Nowitzki scored 62 points in the fourth quarter...

2011 NBA Finals MVP Odds - May 31, 2011

With game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and Miami scheduled to get underway tonight in Miami, I wanted to take some time to go over the odds to win the 2011 Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player  Award. When you look at the rosters for the Mavericks and Heat, there is a lot of players who can step up and have a big game here and there, but there are only a few that appear to have a legit shot at coming away with award. One thing to keep in mind is that the only player to...

2011 NBA Finals Predictions - May 31, 2011

We are down to just two teams fighting for the NBA Championship, as the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat get set to square off in a rematch of the 2006 NBA Finals. After falling behind 2-0 the Heat rallied to win the next four games to stun Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks. While a lot will be made of the previous series, only four players from the two teams combined played in the 2006 Finals (Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Terry, Dwyane Wade, and Udonis Haslem). Looking at the NBA odds for the 2011 NBA Finals,...

2011 NBA Mock Draft - May 20, 2011

The 2011 NBA draft lottery is finalized, and now it’s time to make some educated guesses on which players will get drafted where. The Cleveland Cavaliers certainly made out like bandits, getting the first and fourth overall picks. Obviously, it’s going to be hard to predict what players will get drafted by which teams, but I’m going to make my predictions based on the resources I have available. Events like the Chicago pre-draft combine, the Reebok Eurocamp and team workouts that take place...

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks will fight for the right to face off in the NBA Finals against the winner of the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat series. The Eastern Conference is down to just two teams. The top-seeded Chicago Bulls, who finished the regular season with an overall record of 62-20, are set to take on the Miami Heat, who finished four games back of Chicago as the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.  The seven-game series is scheduled to get underway this Sunday at the United Center. The Bulls struggled out of the gates, as they really had their hands full with the Indiana Pacers in the opening round. Chicago went on to win the series...

Odds to Win NBA Finals 2011 - April 30, 2011

Eastern Conference Championship Odds Miami Heat (+250) – The Heat won their opening series against the Philadelphia 76ers 3-1, but didn’t exactly dominate like a lot of people thought they would. Miami routinely got off to slow starts in the first quarter, but thanks to their ability to get after it on the defensive end allowed them to keep it close and take over the game late. It will be interesting to see if Miami changes up their starting lineup for their second round series against...

2011 NBA Playoff Predictions: Lakers vs Mavericks - April 29, 2011

The Los Angeles Lakers will continue their run at a second 3-peat when they take on the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference semifinals. The series is set to start on Monday with game 1 in Los Angeles. The Lakers didn’t exactly look like the defending champs in their opening round matchup against the New Orleans Hornets. The Lakers lost game 1 and were tied at 2-2 before rolling off two impressive wins. You can look at the Lakers performance in two ways. Either this team is starting to...

Who ended up with the better side of the deal in the Carmelo Anthony trade?  Expert NBA handicapper, Tony Karpinski examines the details and gives you his conclusion. Carmelo Anthony has been a superstar for years, scoring from all over the court. A career 24.8 point scorer and a 46% shooter from the field. Melo has been proven as a scorer throughout his NBA for 7 years. Playing at Syracuse, he scored 22 a night for the 30-5 Orange, taking them to the NCAA championship and winning it all in 202-2003...

2011 NBA Playoff Predictions: Lakers vs Hornets - April 15, 2011

The No. 2 seed Los Angeles Lakers are set to square off with the No. 7 seed New Orleans Hornets in the first round of the playoffs in the Western Conference. The two-time defending champs have looked vulnerable at times this season, but they have always had a knack for turning it on come playoff time. The Hornets did a great job this season just to make the playoffs after coming into the year with little expectations. L.A. finished with a 57-25 record while New Orleans posted a 46-36 mark. Every...

2011 NBA Playoff Predictions: Spurs vs Grizzlies - April 15, 2011

The No. 1 seed San Antonio Spurs will take on the No. 8 seed Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the 2011 Western Conference playoffs. Game 1 is set to tip at 1:00 EST on Sunday, April 17th and this contest will be nationally televised on ESPN. Usually it’s hard to give an 8-seed a chance in any series, but with the season Memphis has had you can’t count them out, either. The Spurs owned the best record in the Western Conference this season with a 61-21 record. Memphis also had a solid year...

The Dallas Mavericks take on the Portland Trail Blazers in the opening round of the Western Conference playoffs. This series starts on Saturday, April 16th with Game 1 tipping at 9:30 EST on ESPN. It’s perhaps the most intriguing of any series as many feel that Portland is one of the more dangerous teams in the playoffs that nobody is talking about. Dallas comes in as the No. 3 seed with high expectations after a 57-25 season, and No. 6 Portland came on strong at the end of the season to post a...
