Old Dominion Upsets Notre Dame

March 18, 2010

It didn’t take long for us to see the first upset of the 2010 NCAA tournament, as Old Dominion took down Notre Dame 51-50 in the first game.  You couldn’t have asked for a better way to get things started, as this was a battle the entire time.  The Irish set a slow pace and even got out to a 30-22 lead before the Monarchs charged back with a 9-0 run in the second half.  Notre Dame was a 13.5 point favorite with the NCAA basketball odds, but Old Dominion is getting more respect in round...

2010 NCAA Tournament Predictions: Final Four

March 18, 2010

Once we get down the Final Four the teams obviously have their goal of a title just a couple games away from them. My brackethas a Final Four of: Kansas, Syracuse, West Virginia, and Baylor. I realize that Baylor is definitely the longest shot of my Final Four picks, but the reason I have them in there is I just don’t believe in anyone from the South Regional Bracket. I think Duke is a bit overrated as the third overall seed in the tournament and I think Villanova was given the #6 overall seed...

Obama’s Bracket for 2010 NCAA Tournament

March 17, 2010

If you are interested in the Presiden’t opinion, Obama’s bracket for the 2010 NCAA Tournament is explained in detail below.  He is going with a couple of upsets in the first round, mainly Murray State over Vanderbilt, Cornell over Temple, and Siena over Purdue.  Remember that last year he did not do very well in the first round, but redeemed himself by having North Carolina cutting down the nets.  If you think you can nail down the perfect bracket, check out the $13 million being offered...

Bobby Gonzalez Fired

March 17, 2010

Seton Hall fired Bobby Gonzalez on Wednesday afternoon after the Pirates’ first round loss in the NIT.  Gonzalez failed to reach the NCAA tournament in any of his four seasons at the school and compiled a record of 66-59.  Last year he received a contract extension through 2015, but he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way with his fiery personality.  Evidence of his hot temper could be seen with his seven technical fouls on the year.  Think you can put out a perfect bracket?  If so then...

Syracuse vs Vermont 2010 NCAA Tournament Lines

March 17, 2010

The 1-seed Syracuse Orange of the West Region will meet up with the 16-seed Vermont Catamounts for the second time in the NCAA Tournament since 2005. In that year, Vermont pulled off the upset. But according to the college basketball odds, that isn’t likely to happen again. The books have installed a line of Syracuse -17.5 over Vermont. Despite losing their final two games heading into the tournament, the Orange earned a 1-seed after an excellent season which saw them finished at 28-4 and 15-3...

Gonzaga vs Florida State 2010 March Madness Odds

March 17, 2010

In what is supposed to be one of the most tightly-contested games in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, the 8-seed Gonzaga Bulldogs face the 9-seed Florida Seminoles. This game will take place in Buffalo, NY as part of the West Region, with the winner to face either Syracuse or Vermont. NCAA basketball odds are posted for this game, with Florida State -1.5 over Gonzaga. This is one of the few games where the higher seed is actually the favorite. Though it was a great season for Gonzaga as...

NCAA Tournament Lines 2010: Pittsburgh vs Oakland

March 17, 2010

In the West Region on the 2010 NCAA Tournament Friday, the #3 seed Pittsburgh Panthers take on the #14 seed Oakland Golden Grizzlies at 2:45 EST. Most 3-seeds are huge favorites in the opening round, and that’s the case again here in this match-up as NCAA basketball lines show us Pittsburgh -10.5 over Oakland. The Panthers were the surprise of the Big East this season, and if not for the job that Jim Boeheim did at Syracuse, Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon would have won Big East Coach of the Year...

2010 Odds to Win the NCAA Basketball Tournament: Richmond

March 17, 2010

Richmond is the #7 seed this year in the NCAA tournament’s South Region.  The Spiders finished 3rd in the Atlantic 10 this year with a 13-3 conference record and earned a 26-8 record overall.  Richmond’s biggest wins this year include victories over Florida, Temple, and Xavier.  Richmond won their first two games in the A-10 conference tournament, but lost in their next round to Temple.  BetUS Sportsbook has posted the odds for every team in the field to win the tournament and they...

NCAA Basketball Odds: Butler to Win It All

March 17, 2010

The team with the nation’s longest winning streak isn’t one of the No. 1 seeds, but instead a 5-seed in the Butler Bulldogs.  The tough part is that they will be playing UTEP, a team that had won 16 in a row before dropping the Conference USA title game to Houston.  The tough opponents and being placed in the dreaded five versus 12 pairing is one of the reasons NCAA basketball odds makers have listed Butler as just a 2.5 point favorite against the Miners in round one.  Butler is 75-to-1...

2010 NCAA Tournament Odds: Xavier vs Minnesota

March 17, 2010

The 6-seed Xavier Musketeers meet up with the 11-seed Minnesota Golden Gophers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday. This game takes place in the West Region at Wisconsin Milwaukee, and college basketball lines show us a spread of Xavier -1 over Minnesota. Xavier went 24-8 this season and 14-2 in the Atlantic-10, tying with Temple for 1st place during the regular season. The Musketeers lost to Richmond in the Semifinals of the conference tournament, but with their resume they still earned...

NCAA Expert Picks: Texas A&M

March 17, 2010

Defense is going to be the key to the Texas A&M Aggies making a run in the 2010 NCAA tournament.  This team is patient on offense and waits for a solid look at the basketball, and they play tenacious defense.  Even though they are a No. 5 seed, this team did tie with Baylor and Kansas State for 2nd place in the Big 12 with an 11-5 record.  At 23-9 overall though, they are not getting as much respect as the other two teams.  If you think the NCAA basketball odds on this team are too low, then...
