San Diego Chargers v. New Orleans Saints Week 8 NFL Picks

Written October 23, 2008 by Jay Todd

At first glance the San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints London game might look like a game between two solid offenses. However, with a closer look you will notice you want to play the under in this one. The NFL lines on this game have been set at the Chargers -3 with a total of 45.5.

San Diego has not gone over this posted total in their last four games. The Chargers defense has really stepped in up in the last couple of games. They have allowed just one team to score over 20 points in their last four games.

However, defense aside, San Diego has struggled offensively. LaDainian Tomlinson is averaging just 3.6 yards per carry so far this season and has only rushed for four touchdowns. Look for him to continue struggling against New Orleans. The Saints are just giving up a little over 100 yards each game on the ground. Look for them to key on San Diego’s passing game and force them to grind it out on the ground.

New Orleans has been a lot better on defense as people are led to believe. They are giving up a little over 20 points per game, but look for Drew Brees to be focused and a short and efficient passing game against a tough secondary. Also Reggie Bush will not play in this game. There is no way that Duce McAllister or Pierre Thomas will be able to run against San Diego’s defense, they give up just over 100 yards on the ground per game.

With Bush out and two underrated defense going out it, our free NFL picks on this game is to play the UNDER 46.5.
