2009 Chicago Bears Schedule
Written by Jack Jones
The Chicago Bears made a big move in the offseason when they traded for Jay Cutler. It will be interesting to see how well he does under center in Chicago after he kind of acted like a cry baby in wanting to get out of Denver. The NFL odds makers aren’t real excited about this team, having them penciled in at 8 wins with their NFL win projections for 2009.  Let’s take a look at their weekly schedule to see if we can pin point where their wins and losses will come. Remember that if you are going to bet on the NFL this fall, then BetUS offers up to a $500 match bonus if you tell them BetFirms sent you!
The Bears preseason schedule sees them kicking off at the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, August 15th followed by a home game against the New York Giants on Saturday, August 22nd. The Bears will then head to the Denver Broncos for their third game on Sunday, August 30th as Cutler will be back in a familiar atmosphere early in his Chicago career. The final exhibition game will be played on Thursday, September 3rd when the team plays host to the Cleveland Browns.
Week 1 – Sunday, September 13th at the Green Bay Packers – I can’t see Chicago going on the road and being favored up in Lambeau to start the season.
Week 2 – Sunday, September 20th at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers – This is going to be a tough game when the Bears play host to the defending champs, but I’ll give them a small edge.
Week 3 – Sunday September 27th at the Seattle Seahawks – With a tough opening month the Bears could be off to an 0-3 start to the Cutler era.
Week 4 – Sunday, October 4th at home against the Detroit Lions – Pretty easy to chalk up a win here and move on to the next week.
Week 6 – Sunday, October 18th at the Atlanta Falcons – Another playoff team from a year ago and it’s on the road, so I’ll give Chicago a projected L.
Week 7 – Sunday, October 25th at the Cincinnati Bengals – This is a winnable road game, but I think the edge goes to Cincy.
Week 8 – Sunday, November 1st at home against the Cleveland Browns – It’s tough not to like Chicago at home against an inconsistent Browns squad.
Week 9 – Sunday, November 8th at home against the Arizona Cardinals – Can the Cardinals keep up their great play from last year’s postseason? Maybe, but I think Chicago will be favored here.
Week 10 – Thursday, November 12th at the San Francisco 49ers – Short week and then have to head out West? Small edge here to San Fran.
Week 11 – Sunday, November 22nd at home against the Philadelphia Eagles – This game is a toss-up, but when in doubt take the home team.
Week 12 – Sunday, November 29th at the Minnesota Vikings – Winning up in Minnesota is going to be a tall order for anyone this year, so this is a projected loss.
Week 13 – Sunday, December 6th at home against the St. Louis Rams – I see the Bears being a pretty healthy favorite here.
Week 14 – Sunday, December 13th at home against the Green Bay Packers – Two fairly even teams means go with the home squad.
Week 15 – Sunday, December 20th at the Baltimore Ravens – I think the Ravens will be favored here. A playoff team a year ago and they get the Bears on their home turf.
Week 16 – Monday, December 28th at home against the Minnesota Vikings – I have the Bears at 7-7 here and the books have the team pegged for 8 wins, so figure a loss here.
Week 17 – Sunday, January 3rd at the Detroit Lions – Chicago finishes up their season with a road win in Detroit.

Got something to say?

This has got to be some of the most moronic predicting of a team’s schedule that I’ve ever seen in my life.
Case in point: Week 1 and 2. You have the Packers who won only 5 games last season favored simply because they’re at home (even though the Bears have only lost 2 games to the Packers in the Lovie era, and only one loss at Lambeau) but you give the edge to the Bears over the Superbowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers?
You give the edge to the home team in nearly all the contests and that’s not how it works. A team simply being at home does not equate to a win.
You have the Bears losing to the Packers (who, once again, only won 5 games last season), 49ers (who were morbid) and Seattle (who was awful as well with only 4 wins) and yet you have them favored against the Superbowl champion Steelers, the NFC Champion Cardinals, and the Eagles who were one game short of the big time.
What is this crap? If the Bears can beat the Steelers, Cards, and Eagles then the Packers, 49ers, and Seahawks certainly pose little threat.
I have the Bears going at least 11-5 but more like 12-4 or 13-3. Your prediction makes little sense to me at all.
My thoughts exactly. Actually I stopped reading after week 7. The writer of this article sounds exactly like my friend when looking at the Bears’ schedule, who is a painfully narrow-minded Packer fan.
Guys, you need to understand that these “predictions” are based only on the estimated NFL win totals provided by the sportsbooks. We are trying to provide some insight as to what they were thinking when they made their lines. Understand that these in no way reflect the actual predictions that will be made on the Bears during the season.
Thanks!
Jack
Hey Bears fans: The Packers won 6 games, not 5 in 2008. They roughed up your Bruins 37-6 up in Lambeau and were just a blocked field goal from sweeping later in the season in Soldier Field. I wouldn’t say your games with Green Bay are any “gimme” for Chicago in either place this season.
PackerLifer… Six wins instead of five is hardly imposing. Aaron Rodgers is overrated (inconsistent at BEST), the Packers have no defense, and unlike the Bears, no real possibility of improvement on that front. The best part of the Packers game is undoubtedly their arguably best-in-the-NFC receiver corps, and if you look throughout history, teams that ride their receivers, especially teams without a good, proven quarterback, don’t win games. The games against the Bears historical rivals aren’t “gimmes”, because you can’t ever count those darn Packers out, but the Bears will be pretty heavy favorites.
