Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Diego Chargers NFL Betting Odds & Spread

Editors Note: Jason Lowry has his NFL LOWRY LOCK OF THE MONTH going in this one, as he sees one of these two teams walking away with an easy ATS victory.
This week the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Diego Chargers are set to do battle out of the AFC West, and both teams come into this one with a pretty bad start to the first half of the season. The Chiefs are dead last in the west at 1-7, but have played much better of late including leading 24-3 last week over the Buccaneers, before falling in overtime. The Chargers come into this on well rested off their bye week, but after losing 2 straight they are just 3-5 on the season, and needing a lot to change if they want to win this division. The oddsmakers look like they think this one will be a scrimmage, as the Chargers come in 15.5 point favorites at home over the Chiefs at Bookmaker.com
The Chiefs come into this weeks game against the Chargers a little bit disappointed after letting that big lead slide last week, but this is a team that is starting to click, and considering they are doing it with their No. 3 quarterback and running back is pretty impressive. Last week quarterback Tyler Thigpen had another solid day as he threw for 164 yards and a score, plus grabbed a 37 yard pass from receiver Mark Bradley. Rookie running back Jamaal Charles had his best day as a pro running for 106 yards on 18 carries. Now this was a unit that really struggled to move the football, before the last couple games, its can they do it for a full game, as last week they only scored 3 points the whole 2nd half.

The Chiefs defense really played well early, as they kept the Buccaneers running game in check and were really clicking in the first half. But while the Bucs never really got it going on the ground, Jeff Garcia wound up throwing for nearly 340 yards and a score. This defense will likely have its hands full against a Chargers offense that has really underperformed for the most part this season, but keeping this game with in 15 is definitely a possibility. Bet Chiefs +15.5 at Bookmaker.com
The Chargers had a little better offensive showing against the Saints in their most recent game in London, as Philip Rivers threw for over 340 yards and 3 scores, while LaDainian Tomlinson recorded only his second 100 yards game of the season with 105 on 19 carries. Tomlinson also helped out in the passing game catching 5 balls for 65 yards and a score, but the main target for Rivers was tight end Antonio Gates who had 6 catches for 96 yards and a score. This unit has to come to play, and if they don’t take the Chiefs seriously this week this game will be much closer than the home fans would like.
The Chargers defense hasn’t really played much like the team they sent out on the field in 2007, as they just have a really hard time stopping the run, but in their last game against the Saints they couldn’t stop the passing game of Drew Brees who lit up the Chargers secondary for 339 yards and 3 scores. The Chargers hope to get plenty of pressure on the inexperienced quarterback of the Chiefs this week, but they weren’t able to record a sack last week, and the only real highlight for this defense was a forced fumble by linebacker Tim Dobbins.
