Chiefs at Eagles Line
Written by Black Widow
The 0-2 Kansas City Chiefs look for their first win of the season at 1-1 Philadelphia this Sunday. If you bet on the NFL, then chances are you know that the NFL lines have the Eagles as a big favorite to win. They have installed Philadelphia -9.5 over Kansas City with a Total Set of 41 points. Clearly, the Eagles would be a bigger favorite if Donovan McNabb was healthy.
The Eagles have three quarterbacks on their roster that have combined for 12 Pro Bowls in Vick, McNabb and now Jeff Garcia. But the start Sunday will go to Kevin Kolb as he makes only his second start of the season. Vick will be eligible to play for the first time in 33 months, so you can expect to see him out there in some Wildcat packages. Kolb was great last week against New Orleans, throwing for 391 yards and two touchdowns. Now, if he can just cut back on the three interceptions he threw last week, he should have a great chance to be successful in his second career start. Concerns for the defense are evident after the stop unit gave up 48 points to the Saints last week.
Todd Haley’s Chiefs are very close to being 2-0, but instead they are 0-2 and they might just have a quarterback controversy on their hands. K.C. was tied 24-24 with Baltimore in Week 1 before letting it slip away, and they were leading 10-6 against Oakland last week with less than 3 minutes to go before giving up a late touchdown in a 13-10 loss. Matt Cassel threw two costly interceptions in Oakland territory, which really cost the Chiefs the game. Brodie Croyle threw two touchdown passes against Baltimore, but K.C. was outgained 188-501 in that contest so really he didn’t help move the ball all that well. K.C. will have their hands full in trying to stop the run, as the Eagles are averaging 5.1 yards/carry. But starting RB Brian Westbrook injured his ankle against New Orleans and is now listed as questionable. The Eagles are actually 14-11 in 25 games that McNabb has missed throughout his career, so there’s still plenty of talent left in the cupboard to get the job done.
Got something to say?
