Kansas City Chiefs at Tennessee Titans NFL Picks & Odds

This weekend the Tennessee Titans will try to remain the only unbeaten team in the NFL when they travel to take on the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. With both teams coming off a bye week they have had the chance to get that final tuneup for the remainder of the season, and there is no question these two teams are headed in different directions. The Chiefs have won just one game this season as they continue their rebuilding process, on the other hand the Titans continue to win with skeptical play from their quarterbacks. It looks as though Kerry Collins will remain the starter even the Vince Young appears ready to go. For the matchup this weekend the oddsmakers are favoring the road team, as the Titans come in 8 point favorites over the Chiefs at Bookmaker.com

We have already mentioned that the Titans offense has had its struggles with the quarterback position, but that hasn’t been to big of problem, as they have the best rushing attack in the NFL grabbing over 190 yards a game. Rookie Chris Johnson and LenDale White continue to be a dynamic duo out of the backfield as Johnson gets the yards, while White pounds it in the endzone. This weekend the Titans get the Chiefs defense that has given up some big totals on the ground this season, and it would be no surprise to see the Titans pound the football from start to finish.

The main reason the Titans have been able to stay undefeated is that their defense has played lights out all season, and the only time they have given up more than 1 touchdown was when Adrian Peterson ran for two scores. If you look back to the Chiefs last game they weren’t able to do anything at all on offense and wound up being shutout at Carolina. The only concern we see this weekend is the Chiefs tend to play much better football at home, as they showed when the beat the Broncos when they came into Arrowhead undefeated. After scoring 33 points against the Broncos the Chiefs had no answer for the Panthers in their last game, as running back Larry Johnson went from running for 2 scores and 198 yards to just 2 yards on 7 carries. One thing the Chiefs got going for them this weekend is they finally get their opening day starter Brodie Croyle back at quarterback, and they also expect rookie left tackle Branden Albert to be back in action as well. If Croyle can find that connection with Dwayne Bowe and the Chiefs can get some kind of running game going, they might just have enough to keep this one within striking distance.

As for the Chiefs defense they went right back to their normal ways, as the Panthers running duo of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart combined for 195 yards and two scores. The pass defense wasn’t much better as Jake Delhomme threw for 236 yards and 2 scores as well. The defense seems to be the main benefactor of playing at home, so maybe they can put something together to keep the Titans running game in check. The fact that the Titans struggle to throw the football, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Chiefs stack the box, and force the Titans to beat them through the air. Bet Chiefs +3 at Bookmaker.com
