2009 Cincinnati Bengals Schedule

Written May 19, 2009 by Steve Janus

2009-cincinnati-bengals-game-scheduleContinuing with our look at the NFL schedules for the AFC North, today we will look at the Cincinnati Bengals.  The 2009 NFL projected win totals place the Bengals at 5.5 wins.  Let’s take a look through their upcoming schedule and see which 5 or 6 games they could win, and which games they are probably expected to lose.  If you would like to bet on the under or over on the 5.5 win total, head over to BetUS for a $500 match bonus on new accounts with deposits of $500 or more.  Just don’t forget to tell them that BetFirms sent you!

The Bengals have four total pre-season games scheduled, starting with two games on the road.  The first will be on Friday, August 14th at the New Orleans Saints, and the second pre-season game has Cincy traveling to New England on Thursday, August 20th to face the Patriots.  From there the Bengals head back to Cincinnati to face the St. Louis Rams on Thursday, August 27th, followed by a game hosting the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday, September 3rd.  For tickets to Cincinnati Bengals games, be sure you head to StubHub for the best prices on the best tickets this season.

Week 1 – Sunday, September 13th at home against the Denver Broncos – The Broncs have retooled their team and could get off to a slow start.  The Bengals start their season with some optimism and a win over Denver in Cincinnati.

Week 2 - Sunday, September 20th at the Green Bay Packers – Cincinnati ranked 32 in total yards gained on offense last year, the Packers were 8th.  Don’t expect the Bengals to win at Green Bay in ‘09.

Week 3 – Sunday, September 27th at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers – The Defending Champs come to town and give the Bengals another loss.

Week 4 – Sunday, October 4th at the Cleveland Browns – The Bengals did win 14-0 at Cleveland last season, however, don’t expect history to repeat itself this year.  The Browns win at home.

Week 5 – Sunday, October 11th at the Baltimore Ravens – It’s hard to find an aspect of the game that Cincy does better than Baltimore.  I’m all over the Ravens in this one.

Week 6 – Sunday, October 18th at home against the Houston Texans – Offensively the Texans were the 3rd best team in the NFL last year in terms of total yardage.  Who knew?!  Houston should outscore the Bengals in a barn-burner.

Week 7 – Sunday, October 25th at home against the Chicago Bears – The Bears picked up Jay Cutler and immediately improved their offense in my opinion.  I like the Bears in this one.

Week 8 - BYE

Week 9 – Sunday, November 8th at home against the Baltimore Ravens – This time they play the Ravens at Cincinnati.  It shouldn’t matter much.  Baltimore sweeps the Bengals.

Week 10 – Sunday, November 15th at the Pittsburgh Steelers – Another team that should sweep the Bengals in 2009.

Week 11 – Sunday, November 22nd at the Oakland Raiders – As bad as the Bengals are projected to be in 2009, the Raiders are projected to be worse.  Cincy finally gets another win in Week 11.

Week 12 – Sunday, November 29th at home against the Cleveland Browns – Where the Browns beat the Bengals in Cleveland, I think the Bengals can beat the Browns in Cincinnati.

Week 13 – Sunday, December 6th at home against the Detroit Lions – The Lions should be improved, but they’ll struggle again on the road.  The Bengals win their 3rd straight here.

Week 14 – Sunday, December 13th at the Minnesota Vikings -  Bengals ranked 21st in rushing yards allowed last year, 29th in rushing yards gained.  Minnesota was first in rushing yards allowed and 5th rushing yards gained.  The Vikings are a solid play here.

Week 15 – Sunday, December 20th at the San Diego Chargers – The Chargers should be a playoff caliber team next year, the Bengals won’t be.  San Diego wins at home.

Week 16 - Sunday, December 27th at home against the Kansas City Chiefs – While I do expect the Chiefs to be a better team, this is a game Cincinnati should win.

Week 17 – Sunday, January 3rd at the New York Jets – I actually expect the Jets to be better without Favre this season, I’ll take New York in the Bengals final game of the season.

Well, I believe this is a bad prediction, but we shall see. Though the Bengals had a horrible offense last year, they weren’t led by Carson Palmer. The running game may be their only struggle but I believe they can over come it. Their defense is also projected to be in the top 10 this year. I believe the Bengals will win at least 8-9 games and I’m hoping they can win 10-11 to get into the playoffs. Time will only tell but the NFL projected win total is a tad low!
    The Teams they will beat:
    Broncoes
    Browns (Twice)
    Texans
    Bears
    Ravens (Once at home)
    Raiders
    Lions
    Chiefs
    Jets

    So I got 10-6 :)
