Clemson at Miami College Football Lines

Written October 23, 2009 by Kyle Hunter

The Miami Hurricanes will be hosting the Clemson Tigers in a pivotal ACC showdown this Saturday. Miami has put themselves back on the map this year with big wins over the likes of Florida State and Oklahoma. Clemson comes into this game at just 3-3, but they are just a few plays away from being 6-0. Clemson is plenty talented to make this a very hard fought ACC challenge, and that is exactly what I would expect in this one.

The Hurricanes of Miami are led by sophomore quarterback Jacory Harris. Harris is a great play maker, who never gives up on a play. Harris has an impressive 65% completion percentage and has thrown for 1,518 yards already this year. Javarris James gives Miami a bruising running back that can carry the load when needed. Miami has really bought into Coach Randy Shannon’s system and the effects are really starting to show. This is a team that is hard-nosed and finds ways to win the close ones, unlike Miami teams in the past few years. The defense has been good at taking the ball away from the opposition and forcing them into field goal attempts. In the last 3 games the defense of Miami has allowed only 14.3 points per game. The Hurricanes are definitely for real this year.

Clemson is a team that is tough to figure out because they can look so good and so bad at different times, sometimes all within the course of one game. The loss to Georgia Tech is a perfect example of this, since Clemson was way behind, came back to take the lead, then blew it again at the end. Clemson lost in a shocking defeat at Maryland two weeks ago before rebounding by thumping Wake Forest last weekend. C.J. Spiller is most definitely the star of the offense for the Tigers. Spiller has the ability to break it every single time he touches the ball and he is also a pretty decent receiver out of the backfield. The passing attack has been very inconsistent behind quarterback Kyle Parker. Parker is completing a little less than 50% of his passes and Clemson averages just 182 yards per game through the air. On the bright side the Clemson defense has showed itself to be very solid this season. The defense is only giving up 15.3 points per game and a very impressive 148 yards per game through the air.  Pick up a sweet 10% unlimited deposit bonus from Bodog this season that you can use for all of your college football betting!

Miami opened as 7 point home favorites, but the line has tightened according to our NCAA football odds and they are now just 4.5 point favorites. The posted total is set at 44 points. Clemson is 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games, but Miami is 6-1 against the spread in their last 7. The under is on a nice run in both Clemson and Miami games at 4-0 and 4-1 respectively.

I expect this one to be a very entertaining and tight game to the end. Both defenses should fare well, but in the end I think Jacory Harris will be the difference and will make a big play to put the Hurricanes over the top.
