Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens Odds

Written September 24, 2009 by Black Widow

Browns Ravens OddsCleveland heads to Baltimore to take on the Ravens in Week 3. NFL odds for this game have the Ravens -13 over the Browns with a Total Set of 38.5 points. This is the first AFC North divisional game for both squads, and from what we’ve seen so far there’s no reason to believe the Browns can hang tough. But if you think they can, give NFL betting a shot and try your luck at Superbook. This is one of the best online books around and they offer 50% sign-up bonuses to new customers.

The Baltimore Ravens try to get off to a 3-0 start for the first time in three years, while the Cleveland Browns try to avoid falling to 0-3. This is a different Ravens’ team to this point, winning with their offense in spite of their defense. Joe Flacco has led Baltimore to 69 points through two games, while the defense has surrendered 50 points already. Last season, the Ravens finished 11th in scoring at 24.1 points/game and 3rd in scoring defense at 15.3 points/game. The Chargers put up 474 yards on the Ravens last week, the highest total they’ve allowed since 2001. Ray Lewis came up with a huge stop on 4th-and-1 as he tackled Darren Sproles in the backfield to preserve the victory. So though they didn’t play their best throughout, the defense stepped up when they needed to. Baltimore leads the league in rush defense, giving up 41.0 yards/game. So it’s their secondary that’s getting torched right now.

Cleveland has gained the fewest yards of any team this season at 234.0 yard/game. Their offense has put up only 26 points, second-fewest in the NFL. Brady Quinn is going to retain his job, but so far he’s simply not getting it done. “It starts with the quarterback, usually that’s what everybody looks at and typically they get the lion’s share of the credit and the lion’s share of the blame,” Mangini said. “But as you watch any play, it comes down to everybody doing what they’re supposed to be doing in that spot.” Quinn has been sacked nine times already, so a lot of blame can go on the offensive line. Flacco has already thrown for 497 yards and 5 touchdowns this season. The Ravens are proving that they are more than just a power-running team, though Willis McGahee already has 4 touchdowns, tied for the league lead. Baltimore is still putting up 164.0 rushing yards/game, good for fourth-best in the NFL.
