Cleveland Browns Schedule 2009

Written May 20, 2009 by Steve Janus

cleveland-browns-schedule-2009How will the 2009 NFL schedule treat the Cleveland Browns?  According to the projected 2009 NFL win totals, the Browns’ expected win total is 6.5.  In today’s article we’ll look at their complete schedule and map out which games are likely wins and which ones are likely losses.  If you are looking to bet the NFL this season, be sure you take advantage of our $500 match bonus deal with BetUS on new accounts that deposit $500 or more.  Just be sure to tell them BetFirms sent you.

Cleveland has 4 games scheduled for the pre-season, two on the road and two at home.  Their first exhibition game will be at the Green Bay Packers on Saturday, August 15th.  From Green Bay the Browns head back to Cleveland to face the Detroit Lions on Saturday, August 22nd, followed by the Tennessee Titans, again in Cleveland, on Saturday, August 29th.  The Browns will wrap up their pre-season schedule on Thursday, September 3rd at the Chicago Bears.  Want Cleveland Browns tickets for the 2009 seasonStubHub has you covered!

Week 1 – Sunday, September 13 at home against the Minnesota Vikings – The Vikings have a strong rush offense and defense, but I’m taking the Browns in their season opener.

Week 2 – Sunday, September 20th at the Denver Broncos – Denver could struggle early this year with a number of changes to their organization, but I think the Broncos come away with the win here.

Week 3 – Sunday, September 27th at the Baltimore Ravens – The Browns have not faired well in Baltimore in recent years.  This is a loss for Cleveland.

Week 4 – Sunday, October 4th at home against the Cincinnati Bengals – These are the worst two teams in the division, but the edge goes to the Browns at home.

Week 5 - Sunday, October 11th at the Buffalo Bills – The Browns were 3-5 on the road last year.  Expect those struggles to continue.  Buffalo is a loss for the Browns this year.

Week 6 – Sunday, October 18th at the Pittsburgh Steelers – On the road against the defending Super Bowl winner.  Loss.

Week 7 - Sunday, October 25th at home against the Green Bay Packers – The Browns were 26th in total defense last year, the Packers were 8th in total offense.  Not a good match up for Cleveland.

Week 8 – Sunday, November 1st at the Chicago Bears – The Bears will be tough this year with their solid defense and improved offense.  Browns lose in Chi-Town.

Week 9 - BYE

Week 10 – Monday, November 16th at home against the Baltimore Ravens – Expect the Browns to get swept by the Ravens this year.

Week 11 – Sunday, November 22nd at the Detroit Lions – The Lions shouldn’t lose every game this year, but this is a game Cleveland should win.

Week 12 – Sunday, November 29th at the Cincinnati Bengals – Slight edge goes to the Bengals at home.

Week 13 – Sunday, December 6th at home against the San Diego Chargers – It’s hard to imagine the Browns having the firepower to get past San Diego.

Week 14 – Thursday, December 10th at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers – I have this marked as a possible upset win for Cleveland.  Hey, it could happen.

Week 15 – Sunday, December 20th the at the Kansas City Chiefs – Kansas City should be much better in ‘09, particularly at home.  I’m taking the Chiefs here.

Week 16 – Sunday, December 27th at home against the Oakland Raiders – What has Oakland really done to improve in the off-season?  Not much.  I’m on Cleveland here.

Week 17 – Sunday, January 3rd at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars – Jacksonville was just 3-5 on the road last year.  This is game the Browns can win.
