Written March 6, 2009 by Jack Jones

home-dogsOn Thursday, March 19th the 2009 NCAA Basketball Tournament is set to begin with fans and bettors everywhere watching as upsets and game winning shots will both break hearts and enthrall fan bases.  A new champion will be crowned in what should be another exciting three week period of basketball.  Bet the NCAA Tournament at BetUS, where a $500 deposit will net you a $500 bonus!

However, before Selection Sunday there is still plenty of games to be played as teams jockey for positions in the conference tournament.  The higher the finish a team earns in the regular season standings the higher the seed in the conference tourney.  Today, Marc Lawrence is going to take a look at one of his favorite times of the regular season and that is when teams play their final home games.

You will find teams that are playing their last home game looking to put their best foot forward.  Outgoing seniors will be honored during the game and will have all of their hard work and achievements recognized.  An emotional angle is present as these players will have family and friends in the stands.

Another angle to watch for with teams playing their last home game are when they are coming off a loss or string of losses heading into the game.  You will also see plenty of underdogs at home, and these dogs tend to have a pretty big bite.  Double digit dogs in their final home game of the season are a staggering 71-51 ATS since 1990.  If the team won their previous game straight up as an underdog they have gone 68-44 ATS.  If teams have a winning percentage better than 46.4% they are 33-13 ATS, including 26-9 ATS when seeking revenge.  This weekend Richmond qualifies for this system.

If you want more help with basketball betting this year then make sure to check and see who Marc Lawrence is playing with his NCAA basketball picks.  This expert handicappers has been beating the college basketball odds all season long and should continue to do so come tournament time.
