The Florida Gators try to remain the hottest team in the nation in a bitter rivalry game at Florida State this week. Oddsmakers like the Gators’ chances (why shouldn’t they?), Florida is a 16.5 point favorite on the road this week.
Oklahoma and Oklahoma State meet in their annual Bedlam game this week. There’s more than just pride on the line for both teams. After Oklahoma’s blowout win over Texas Tech, Oklahoma State is a 7 point underdog at home.
In yet another state rivalry the Georgia Bulldogs clash with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Georgia has been great at times, but can’t overlook a crafty Ramblin’ Wreck squad this week. Georgia gets the nod at home as 8 point favorites.
In what has been a classic match up in the past, USC hosts Notre Dame in a game that’s set up for a Trojan blowout. With Notre Dame’s recent struggles, the Irish are 30 point underdogs at USC.
Texas tries to keep their national title hopes alive this week on Thursday as they host state rival Texas A&M. The Aggies haven’t been much competition for the rest of the Big 12 this year and the spread this week shows. Texas is a 35 point favorite over Texas A&M.
Oregon State can still win the Pac-10 with a win over Oregon this week. Because the Beavers beat USC head-to-head earlier this year, and a win this week would tie them in conference wins with the Trojans, Oregon State would could still end up winning the conference and a chance to face Penn State in the Rose Bowl. This week the Beavers are at home as 3.5 point favorites.
One of the most bitter and storied rivalries in college football loses some of it’s draw this week when Alabama hosts Auburn. Bama has to avoid the letdown to maintain their #1 spot in the BCS rankings, but a down year for Auburn has made the Tide a 14.5 point favorite at home this week.
This Friday Pitt and West Virginia meet in a Big East showdown. It’s all for pride this week as neither team was able to keep pace with Cincinnati this season, but the winner will score a much bigger bowl bid. Pitt is a 3.5 point home underdog against the Mountaineers.
You can tell it’s a down year in the SEC when LSU versus Arkansas is barely a blip on the radar this week. The Tigers and the Razorbacks play on Friday, if anyone cares to watch. Oddsmakers have set LSU as a 4.5 point favorite at Arkansas.
Boise State looks to round out another undefeated season with their game on the fabled Smurf Turf this week against Fresno State. Boise gets about as much respect as anyone in the country at home, which is why they are favored by 3 touchdowns over Fresno on Friday.
Two high-powered Big 12 offensive units meet on Sunday this week when Missouri hosts Kansas. Both teams failed to meet expectations this year, but Missouri has had a far better showing and they are 14 point favorites at home this weekend.
