College Football Betting Odds: Week 9
Written October 29, 2009 by Rock Henderson
The Iowa Hawkeyes will look to make it nine wins in a row this weekend at home against a pesky Indiana Hoosier team. A last second win at Michigan State proved costly for the Hawks as starting RB Adam Robinson was lost for the season due to an ankle injury and G Dace Richardson won’t be back until the bowl game. Indiana blew a huge lead at Northwestern last week, but will forget all about it if they pull off the upset here. Iowa is a 17 point favorite according to our latest football betting lines.
Ole Miss at Auburn is a intriguing match-up in the SEC. Gene Chizik’s Tigers have gone into a tailspin after a hot start. Rebel QB Jevan Snead has improved his play and the Rebels have rattled off two straight wins. Auburn has won 22 of the past 26 games between these two, but Ole Miss took last year’s match-up 17-7. The Tigers are getting 3.5 points at home.
The World’s largest outdoor cocktail party goes off in Jacksonville, FL Saturday when Georgia and Florida hook up. Last year’s 49-10 loss to Florida was Mark Richt’s worst in his career. Georgia is 10-2 off a bye week, but have won just three of the last 19 games against Florida. The Gators are giving 15 points.
Oklahoma State has been dominated by Texas in the past. The Longhorns have won 11 straight in this series and 16 of the last 17. Okie State hasn’t missed a beat with the departure of All-American WR Dez Bryant and enter Saturday’s game with a 6-1 record. This could possibly determine the Big 12 South representative in the Big 12 championship game. The Horns are 9 point favorites on the road.

SC has only picked up one road victory this season and this will be their fourth try. Tennessee was a made fg away from taking down the top ranked team in the nation a week ago. The Vols have dominated South Carolina and lead the all-time series 21-4-2. Lane Kiffin’s crew is a 6 point favorite.
Saturday’s headlining game has to be a battle for the Pac-10 crown when the USC Trojans clash with the upstart Oregon Ducks. Oregon has rattled off six wins in a row after losing the opener at Boise State as QB Jeremiah Masoli has finally become a threat in the passing game. The Trojans were an underdog for the first time since 2001 when they traveled to Eugene in 2007 and were defeated 24-17. USC has lost 4 of their last 6 games at Oregon. The Ducks are getting 3.5 points in Autzen Stadium.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish should get a break from playing a game that comes down to the wire when they face the Washington State Cougars. This will be a neutral site game in San Antonio and the Irish won by 3 in OT the last time these two teams met in 2003. Notre Dame has won 8 straight games against a Pac-10 team not named USC. The Irish are 28 point favorites.
