College Football Power Rankings: Week 7

Written October 20, 2009 by Rock Henderson

.) Florida Gators- Still think top to bottom they have the best team even with a near slip up against Arkansas. Should coast to the SEC championship game now.

.) Alabama Crimson Tide- Would hold the #1 spot but not sure on the QB McElroy. Their defense is nasty and RB Mark Ingram might be leading the Heisman race.

.) Texas Longhorns- McCoy not looking as sharp as last year. Offense has to find another playmaker besides WR Jordan Shipley.

.) Boise State Broncos- Have enough talent on both sides of the ball to compete with the big boys. Will be interesting to see if they fall with wins over their remaining opponents.

.) Iowa Hawkeyes- Huge road wins at Penn State and at Wisconsin legitimize this team. Another tough road test at Michigan State this weekend.

If you plan on betting college football this season, you need to be aware of this amazing $500 match bonus from BetUS.  Just open a new account and deposit $500 or more and they will automatically add another $500 to your balance!

.) Cincinnati Bearcats- Rest of their season depends on the health of QB Tony Pike. Finale at Pittsburgh could decide the Big East champ.

.) USC Trojans- Looking as if they will benefit from another early season loss if they keep winning. QB Matt Barkley has come of age quickly.

.) LSU Tigers- Offensively challenged but their defense showed they can shutdown any team by only giving up 13 points to Florida.

.) TCU Horned Frogs- Huge match-up at BYU this Saturday that has conference title and BCS implications.

.) Oregon Ducks- Quack attack is back after debacle at Boise State. Game against USC on October 31st will most likely decide Rose Bowl participant.  This week they face Washington, where the college football odds show them as an 8 point favorite.

.) Miami Hurricanes- ACC title back in the picture after a Virginia Tech loss at Georgia Tech last Saturday.

.) Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets- Triple option is running full throttle right now as Jackets are winners of four straight.

.) Penn State Nittany Lions- Darryl Clark and Evan Royster provide one of the better pass/run options in the country.

.) BYU Cougars- Cougs QB Max Hall accounted for four scores last Saturday. Will need a similar performance against TCU if they want the W.

.) Oklahoma State Cowboys- Showing they are not just a one trick pony with another dominant win without All-American WR Dez Bryant.

.) Virginia Tech Hokies- D-coordinator Bud Foster had no answer for Ga Tech’s option attack. Still can get to the Orange Bowl by winning out.

.) Utah Utes- Won’t be the BCS buster this year, but are still off to a 5-1 start.

.) Houston Cougars- Probably the most explosive offense in the nation. QB Case Keenum takes gunslinger to a whole different level.

.) Pittsburgh Panthers- Freshman RB Dion Lewis has been a huge surprise this season. Loss at NC State not looking so good now.

.) Ohio State Buckeyes- Too early to say that QB Terrelle Pryor has been a bust? Still can control their own destiny for Rose Bowl berth with wins over Iowa and Penn State.

.) West Virginia Mountaineers- Health of QB Jarrett Brown in doubt after helmet to helmet hit against Marshall. RB Noel Devine’s work load could go up.

.) Texas Tech Red Raiders- A couple plays away from have a real shot at being 7-0. Absolutely worked Nebraska in Lincoln.

.) South Carolina Gamecocks- A good defense will expose QB Stephen Garcia’s decision making. Their defense is legit though

.) Kansas Jayhawks- Roared back in the second half against Colorado but it wasn’t enough. Big 12 North is still wide open with Nebraska’s loss also.

.) Arizona Wildcats- One fluke play away from 5-1 with their only loss at #7 Iowa. QB change has proved to be beneficial.
