College Football Score Predictions: Week 4
Written September 25, 2009 by Kyle Hunter
#9 Miami will head to Blacksburg to play #11 Virginia Tech in a massive ACC matchup. The Hurricanes are favored by 2 on the road. Expect Miami to put 8 in the box and force Tyrod Taylor and the Tech offense to throw the ball. Jacory Harris and the Miami offense will do enough to pull off the win. Prediction: Miami 24 Virginia Tech 20
#5 Penn State will host Iowa this weekend in Happy Valley. Iowa ruined Penn State’s national title hopes last year and the Nittany Lions will want revenge in this one. The Nittany Lions have played a very soft schedule, but the defense and the raucous crowd should be enough to take out the Hawkeyes in this one. Prediction: Penn State 24 Iowa 10
#6 California will head to Eugene Oregon to take on the Ducks. Jahvid Best and the offense should be able to roll up quite a few points in this one, and I would expect Cal’s defense to make enough plays to win this one. Prediction: California 35 Oregon 24
#17 Houston will host Mike Leach and the Texas Tech Red Raiders in an exciting offensive shootout. I expect both quarterbacks to have a field day, but Case Keenum will probably make one more big play than Taylor Potts in this one. Prediction: Houston 41 Texas Tech 38
For anyone who plans to do any NCAA football betting throughout this season, even if you already have a sportsbook account, you should open a new account with BetUS and deposit $500 or more. If you do, they’ll automatically add another $500 to your account!
#13 Ohio State will host Illinois, who beat them at home in 2007. Terrelle Pryor will continue to show flashes of brilliance as well as make some big mistakes, but the Buckeye defense should be able to shut down Illinois enough to win this one. The Illinois defense has been very bad so far this season. Prediction: Ohio State 31 Illinois 14
#15 TCU will face a big test at Clemson this weekend. TCU is one of the teams that hope to be a BCS buster at the end of the season. TCU’s defense is underrated and the running game should give Clemson some trouble. I’ll take TCU in a mild upset at Clemson. Prediction: TCU 20 Clemson 17
#3 Alabama will host Arkansas this weekend in a SEC conference matchup. Greg McElroy is really starting to come into his own at the quarterback spot for the Crimson Tide and this Arkansas defense hasn’t been impressive at all. Prediction: Alabama 41 Arkansas 17
#1 Florida will travel to Kentucky to take on the Wildcats. Tim Tebow and the Gators weren’t overly impressive last week, but they got the job done. Expect the Gators to have a little bit easier time getting past the Wildcats. Prediction: Florida 42 Kentucky 17
Georgia will host Arizona State on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs have developed a potent offense behind quarterback Joe Cox. Arizona State will probably score some points, but they won’t be able to keep up with Georgia. Prediction: Georgia 38 Arizona State 21
Notre Dame travels to West Lafayette to battle the Boilermakers this Saturday. The current college football odds have the Irish as 7 point favorites with the over/under set at 60 points. Both teams will put plenty of points on the board, but Jimmy Clausen should have a field day with the Purdue secondary. Prediction: Notre Dame 35 Purdue 24
Boise State will travel to Bowling Green to try to keep its BCS hopes alive. Boise State will likely strike early and often against a Bowling Green team that is improving, but doesn’t have enough firepower. Prediction: Boise State 38 Bowling Green 21
Fresno State will head to Cincinnati to face a Bearcats team that is playing terrific football. Tony Pike and the Bearcats offense is firing on all cylinders and Brian Kelly’s team looks to be a real contender. They should win this one fairly easily. Prediction: Cincinnati 42 Fresno State 17
