College Football Top 25 Recap Week 10

Week 10 College football has finished, and now we’ll take a look at what took place in the Top-25 with scores and insight into every game. You can use this information to help you beat the Week 11 NCAA football odds which are already up and posted. #1 Florida defeats Vanderbilt 27-3 - It wasn’t pretty, but the Gators got the job done behind 208 passing yards and 2 touchdowns, one rushing and one passing. The Commodores couldn’t find the end zone, but their defense held Florida to just 4-for-13 on third downs to stay in the game.

#2 Texas defeats UCF 35-3 - The Knights were in the game early after keeping the Longhorns off the scoreboard in the first quarter, but Texas reeled off 35 unanswered points from the second quarter-on to pull away. Colt McCoy set a career-high with 470 passing yards, 273 of which went to WR Jordan Shipley who set a school record for receiving yards.

#3 Alabama defeats #9 LSU 24-15 - This game could have gone either way before Leigh Tiffin kicked a 40-yard field goal with just over 3 minutes remaining to seal the victory. The Crimson Tide got a 73-yard touchdown from WR Julio Jones in the fourth quarter. This was the first time Alabama has beaten LSU at home since 1999, and the win capped off an SEC West title for the Tide.

Northwestern defeats #4 Iowa 17-10 - QB Ricky Stanzi got knocked out of the game with an ankle injury in the second quarter after Iowa jumped out to a 10-0 lead. From there, it was all Northwestern as the Wildcats forced 4 turnovers and recorded 2 defensive touchdowns off of them.

#5 Cincinnati defeats Connecticut 47-45 - The Huskies had a chance to tie late in the fourth, but their 2-point conversion came up short. QB Zach Collaros was brilliant once again for the Bearcats, recording 555 yards of total offense and 3 touchdowns.

#6 TCU defeats San Diego State 55-12 - Andy Dalton accounted for 2 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing TD’s in another blowout victory for the Horned Frogs. It marks the 11th consecutive win for TCU, who owns the best defense in the country.

#7 Boise State defeats Louisiana Tech 45-35 - Kellen Moore threw for 354 yards and 3 touchdowns, and Jeremy Avery’s 43-yard TD in the fourth quarter put an abrupt end to the Bulldogs’ rally.

Stanford defeats #8 Oregon 51-42 - Toby Gerhart stole the show with a school-record 223 rushing yards and three touchdowns for the victorious Cardinal. This was a shootout as these teams combined for 49 first downs and 1,075 yards of total offense.

#10 Georgia Tech defeats Wake Forest 30-27 (OT) - After the Demon Deacons kicked a FG in overtime, the Yellow Jackets responded by scoring the game-winning TD on a 3-yard run by QB Josh Nesbitt. RB Jonathan Dwyer set a career-high with 189 rushing yards, which was enough to get him over the 1,000-yard mark for the season.

#16 Ohio State defeats #11 Penn State 24-7 - QB Terrelle Pryor accounted for all three of the Buckeyes’ touchdowns, throwing for 2 and rushing for another. This game had over 110,000 in attendance.

#12 USC defeats Arizona State 14-9 - In an ugly, defensive battle, the Trojans’ “D” stepped up the most. They forced ASU into 4 turnovers and did just enough on offense to get the win.

#13 Pittsburgh defeats Syracuse 37-10 - Panthers’ RB Dion Lewis topped the 100-yard rushing mark for the 6th time this season, and QB Bill Stull threw for 225 yards and touchdown as Pitt cruised to victory.

#14 Utah defeats New Mexico 45-14 - QB Jordan Wynn made his first ever start for the Utes, and he was impressive with 297 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. Eddie Winn carried the load on the ground, rushing for 122 yards in the third period alone to record a school-record sixth straight 100-yard performance.

#15 Houston defeats Tulsa 46-45 - Matt Hogan’s 51-yard field goal as time expired capped off an improbable comeback by the Cougars. After recovering an onside kick with just over 20 seconds remaining, Case Keenum led his team into field goal range and finished the game with 522 passing yards in the win.

#17 Miami defeats Virginia 52-17 - The Hurricanes blew it wide open after halftime, outscoring the Cavaliers 28-0 as Graig Cooper and company posted 268 rushing yards for the game. The Miami defense was stout, limiting Virginia to just 149 yards of total offense.

#18 Arizona defeats Washington State 48-7 - After a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the game, the Wildcats went on to outgain the Cougars 470-187 in total yards and a dominant overall performance.

#19 Oklahoma State defeats Iowa State 34-8 - Keith Toston was unstoppable on the ground, rushing for a career-high 206 yards and three touchdowns. For the game, the Cowboys out-rushed the Cyclones 351-54 even though Iowa State was one of the best rushing teams in the conference.

Oregon State defeats #20 California 31-14 - Jahvid Best left the game after suffering a concussion on a TD score in the second quarter. Sean Canfield and this Beavers’ offense couldn’t be tamed as he threw for 342 yards and 2 touchdowns, also rushing for another score.

#21 Wisconsin defeats Indiana 31-28 - It was just another crushing loss for the Hoosiers. The Badgers put together a couple first downs late, eating up the final four minutes of the clock and not giving Indiana a chance to come back and win in the end. Montee Ball finished with 115 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns for Wisconsin.

Navy defeats #22 Notre Dame 23-21 - The Midshipmen won it on a safety as they sacked QB Jimmy Clausen in the end zone with just over a minute remaining. Ricky Dobbs and Vince Murray carried the load for Navy, rushing for a combined 260 yards.

#23 Virginia Tech defeats East Carolina 16-3 - East Carolina never reached the red zone in this one. Ryan Williams bounced back after fumbling to cost the Hokies a victory last week against UNC, rushing for a career-best 179 yards.

Nebraska defeats #24 Oklahoma 10-3 - The Sooners threw 5 interceptions for the game, including 2 on their final two possessions as the Cornhuskers’ defense stepped up big. Matt O’Hanlon recorded 3 of their 5 interceptions.
