Colts at Jags NFL Betting Report

Tonight the Indianapolis Colts head into Jacksonville to take on the Jags. The opening NFL odds on this game showed the Colts as a 6.5 point favorite with the total set at 44.5 points. This is one of those games in which the favorite is getting all of the public support yet the sharp bettors are laying heavy action on the dog.

In this kind of situation you aren’t going to see the line move even with the heavy public money on Indy simply because they don’t want to encourage more NFL betting from the sharps. You might even have seen the line drop down to six at the book you play at, but don’t expect it to go up to seven at any point before the game. As game time approaches though the books won’t fear the sharp money as much so a creep back up to 6.5 points may be likely. Meaning I would hold off if you like the Jags, get your action in now if you are backing Indy.

Motivations: The Colts are looking for their eighth straight win so they can lock up a playoff spot, while most say that the Jags have closed up shop for the season after their poor showing thus far. You can’t question that the Colts are going to go full out, but will the Jags? Some think so since they could play the spoiler to a division rival, but others think that’s a weak motivator.

Key injuries: Colts – WR Marvin Harrison expected to miss. LB Gary Brackett is Out for this game. RB Joseph Addai, S Bob Sanders, DT Keyunta Dawson and DT Erik Foster are all listed probable.

Jags – RB Fred Taylor, LB Daryl Smith, DT Tony McDaniel and WR Jerry Porter have all been placed on the IR. WR Matt Jones has been suspended.

Weather: Game temperatures in the high 60s with little wind. Weather won’t be a factor in this game.
