Colts at Bills Odds

The Indianapolis Colts meet the Buffalo Bills in Week 17 Sunday. The Colts are coming off their first loss of the season, which put an end to their 23-game regular winning streak. The were beaten by the Jets, 29-15, and a lot of controversy surrounded the game because Indy rested their starters in the second half. Buffalo lost 3-31 at Atlanta last week, so both teams come in off losses. The odds show the Bills as 8.5-point favorites with a Total Set of 34 points.

The Colts have even less to play for this week after resting their starters for most of the second half in their loss to the Jets last week. This has been the biggest topic of debate over the last week, where most feel Indy should have gone for the undefeated season. But what’s done is done, and the Colts still have a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Now their primary concern will be keeping players healthy. Curtis Painter replaced Peyton Manning with the Colts leading 15-10 last week, and he went on to have a terrible game, throwing an interception and losing a fumble that was returned for a touchdown.

Buffalo sits at 5-10, and are guaranteed to miss the playoffs for a 10th consecutive season. This team may have packed it in, losing to the Falcons 3-31 last week. Brian Brohm made his first career start, and finished 17-of-29 for 146 yards with 2 interceptions. Either Brohm or injured Ryan Fitzpatrick will get the start this week, and they’ll be trying to resurrect an offense that ranks 29th in the league in passing and 30th overall. Terrell Owens was supposed to help out their passing game, but it’s been a somewhat disappointing season for him. He did become the sixth player in league history to catch 1,000 balls last week in the loss. Buffalo ranks last in the league against the run defensively, and they gave up 3 passing touchdowns to Matt Ryan last week. The Colts have won their last 6 meetings with the Bills in this series.
