Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers Spread
Written November 13, 2009 by Kyle Hunter
The Dallas Cowboys will travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers in a battle of two of the most popular teams in the NFL. The Cowboys started slowly, but have turned things around and now sit at the top of their division. Green Bay was 4-2, but has now lost two straight and sits at .500 on the season. This game is huge for both teams, but it is almost a must win for the Packers. Get an extra $500 to bet on football when you sign up at BetUS and fund your account for $500 or more.
The Dallas Cowboys were just 2-2 after a loss at Denver, but they have now reeled off four wins in a row and their offense seems to be clicking once again. Tony Romo has thrown for 2,215 yards and thrown 13 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions on the season. Maybe the single biggest thing that has helped Romo is the emergence of Miles Austin at wide receiver. Austin had just two receptions in the first three games, but he has caught 25 passes and 6 touchdowns in the last 5 games. Jason Witten is the still the go to guy when comes to getting the tough first down, but Austin gives them a big play man on the outside. The three tailback depth chart is strong for the Cowboys with Marion Barber, Tashard Choice, and Felix Jones in the backfield. The Cowboys defense has given up a decent amount of yardage on the season, but they have done well to limit their opponents points and keep the team in the game.
The Green Bay Packers loss last weekend at Tampa Bay was a real killer for the team. Now they need to bounce back and win this game to get back on track for a shot at the playoffs. Aaron Rodgers and the passing offense has been working well, but the running game just hasn’t been on stride like they need it to be. Rodgers has a 63% completion percentage and has thrown 16 touchdowns to just 5 interceptions. Grant is averaging just over 4 yards per carry and the running game as whole has been inconsistent on the season. The Packers have moved the ball well, but sometimes find it difficult to punch it in when they get to the red zone. The Packers defense started the year out great, but they have allowed 38 points in two straight games. This defense feeds on turnovers and is great at taking advantage of the other teams mistakes.
The NFL odds for this weekend show the Dallas Cowboys as a 3 point favorite on the road this weekend. The posted total is set at 47.5. If you are looking to make NFL picks this weekend and don’t know much about this match up, consider using trends. A couple of trends that stick out are the fact that the over is 12-5 in the Packers last 17 home games and the over is 7-3 in the Cowboys last 10 games overall.
The pressure will be on both quarterbacks to perform well in this game, but it may well be the team that has the most success running the ball that wins this game.
