Denver Broncos Schedule 2009

Written June 8, 2009 by InfoPlays

2009-denver-broncos-scheduleThe Broncos choked away a chance at winning the AFC West last season by losing their final 3 games when all they needed was one victory. This led to the firing of long-term head coach Mike Shanahan and the hiring of Josh McDaniels from New England. A new era starts in Denver, and the odds makers feel it could be a struggle in McDaniels’ first season. They have projected 7.5 wins for the Broncos in 2009. Let’s see if they can overcome these odds by listing their wins and losses for the upcoming season.  See all of the 2009 NFL projected win totals.  If you plan to bet the NFL this fall, you owe it to yourself to take advantage of our $500 match bonus with BetUS.  Just open a new account, deposit at least $500, and you’ll get a $500 bonus!

The Broncos hit the road to start the pre-season with an August 14th trip to the San Francisco 49ers. They travel up north to visit the Seattle Seahawks on August 22nd the following week. Denver’s first pre-season home game takes place August 30th against the Chicago Bears. The Broncos cap off the preseason at Mile High Stadium on September 3rd against the Arizona Cardinals.  Get your 2009 Denver Broncos game tickets at StubHub.

Week 1 - Sunday, September 13th at the Cincinnati Bengals – I don’t see the Broncos being accustomed to McDaniels’ new scheme by the opening week, thus Denver loses on the road.

Week 2 - Sunday, September 20th at home against the Cleveland Browns – The Broncos take down their first home game of the season over Cleveland.

Week 3 - Sunday, September 27th at the Oakland Raiders – Denver should be a slight favorite against the Raiders on the road and they’ll continue dominating Oakland in this rivalry.

Week 4 - Sunday, October 4th at home against the Dallas Cowboys – We’ll give the Broncos the nod at home over the Cowboys in Week 4 due to Dallas being down this season.

Week 5 - Sunday, October 11th at home against the New England Patriots – Bill Bilichik won’t lose to his pupil here, the Patriots are a complete team and the Broncos are not.

Week 6 - Monday, October 19th at the San Diego Chargers – San Diego takes this one in a blowout at home.

Week 8 - Sunday, November 1st at the Baltimore Ravens – The Ravens’ defense gets after either Kyle Orton or Chris Simms and forces too many turnovers for Denver to win on the road.

Week 9 - Monday, November 9th at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers – The defending Super Bowl Champions run all over this Broncos’ defense in a big road win.

Week 10 - Sunday, November 15th at the Washington Redskins – This makes 5 straight losses for the Broncos in a tough stretch midway through the season as Washington squeaks one out at home.

Week 11 - Sunday, November 22nd at home against the San Diego Chargers – A big bounce-back spot for the Broncos and they’ll take it to the Chargers at home to get some revenge.

Week 12 - Sunday, November 29th at home against the New York Giants – The Giants win at Mile High for another crushing Broncos’ defeat.

Week 13 - Sunday, December 6th at the Kansas City Chiefs – Kansas City is improved this season, and now they have a QB in Matt Cassel that can lead them to victory in Week 13 at home.

Week 14 – Sunday, December 13th at the Indianapolis Colts – Denver has played the Colts very tough in the past, but Indy wins at home by a touchdown.

Week 15 – Sunday, December 20th at home against the Oakland Raiders – The Broncos cap off the season sweep against Oakland at Mile High.

Week 16 – Sunday, December 27th at the Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles are favored heavily at home and they win big late in the season.

Week 17 – Sunday, January 3rd at home against the Kansas City Chiefs – Denver finishes strong with a home win over the Chiefs.

With this daunting schedule, I predict the Broncos to finish with a 6-10 record by season’s end. I could easily see them losing a couple more games that I have predicted them to win, but I could also see them winning a couple home games that I predicted them to lose. In all though, I don’t see any way the Broncos can come away with 8 wins in McDaniels’ first year on the job. Thus I’ll be siding with the UNDER 7.5 wins on a futures bet for Denver.
