MLB Picks: Los Angeles Dodgers at Chicago Cubs

The Dodgers will look to get a series split tonight against the sudden re-surged Cubs. After taking the first game in the series they hit a sudden offensive road block scoring one run in the last two games combined. Since the whole Manny Ramirez debacle, Juan Pierre has filled in beautifully. Matt Kemp continues to show why he is a rising star as his glove is as smooth as his hitting. James Loney and Andre Ethier have been great as well. Loney, Blake, Ethier and Hudson all have over 30 RBIs while Kemp is right behind them with 29. So they have not lost a step without Manny. I believe the runs will come for LA tonight, the question is will veteran Eric Milton pitch well enough to pick up a key road won? In two starts he is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA.. The Dodgers have the edge in every aspect of the game, they have a legit power and speed combo with flashy leather in the field. If LA could put up six runs tonight, that will be enough. The x-factor at the plate, Juan Pierre. He will get on base a minimum of two times and cause havoc on the base paths. Today’s MLB lines show the Chicago Cubs -140 against the LA Dodgers.
The Cubs will look to take the four game series against the Dodgers tonight. Over the last two games their bats have awoken. Alfonso Soriano is playing better of late and Milton Bradley has shown signs of life this past week. Reed Johnson has filled in nicely and Fukudome has played well. The loss of Aramis Ramirez to injury has proved to be deadly to this team as with out him they cant buy a clutch hit late in games. Tonight young Sean Marshall takes the mound with his 3-3 record and 3.70 ERA. Marshall is quite interesting when you break down his numbers. He never seems to pitch just okay. It is either great or a bombing appearance. He is coming off a good start against Pittsburgh in his last outing. Just like their opponent, the key will be for the Cubbies to get base runners on. If they can get guys like Theriot and Soriano on to make Milton get off track it will be a series win for this team. Marshall has never faced LA, their speed could make him wild. Close game here, but i think I have a good handle on it.
Haimo’s Hot Notes: The Dodgers are 8-3 in their last 11 road games. LA is 12-5 overall in their last 17 games. The Cubs are 6-2 in their last eight games following a win. Chicago is 17-7 in their last 24 Sunday games. So while both teams bring in impressive road trends, It is the Dodgers will get my pick tonight. As both pitchers seem to be on even grounds, The lineup for LA has more balance and is road ready. They work counts and are a better play.
