Dolphins Bills Odds
Written by Jack Jones
In a match-up between bottom feeders in the AFC East, the Buffalo Bills host the Miami Dolphins Sunday in Week 15 NFL action. Neither team will be making the playoffs, so this one is all about pride folks. Miami has won five of the last seven meetings in this series, including a 35-8 home victory back on November 20th. Matt Moore threw three touchdowns passes to lead his team to victory. The Dolphins have been the more prideful team down the stretch, which is probably why they are favored Sunday.
Oddsmakers in Las Vegas have installed a line of Miami -1.5 over Buffalo.
Miami
The Dolphins opened the season 0-7 and appeared to be on their way to drafting Andrew Luck. However, Miami (4-9, 1-5 away) has won four of their last six to really show what kind of heart they have as a team. One of those losses came on a last-second field goal, though the Dolphins were beaten pretty handily last time out in a 26-10 home loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Philly scored 24 points during a nine-minute span in the third quarter thanks to three takeaways. They sacked Miami quarterbacks nine times throughout the game, while also knocking out Matt Moore, who left with a head injury. The Dolphins managed just 204 total yards while mustering only 11 first downs in the game. J.P. Losman replaced Moore and went 6 of 10 passing for 60 yards.
Miami ranks 24th in the league in total offense (311.2 yards/game) and 12th in total defense (334.1 yards/game). It’s unclear whether Moore will start or not as he deals with an apparent concussion. Also, T Jake Long (back), G Vernon Carey (foot) and CB Vontae Davis (neck) are all questionable heading into this one. Reggie Bush has really come on strong of late. Bush has 1,034 yards from scrimmage and six total touchdowns on the season.
Buffalo
Only the Indianapolis Colts are colder than the Bills right now. Buffalo (5-8, 4-2 home) has lost six straight games while getting outscored by an average of 19.5 points/game. They lost Fred Jackson for the season a few weeks back with a leg injury, and they clearly haven’t been the same team without him. Ryan Fitzpatrick signed a new contract midway through the season, and he hasn’t been playing up to par since.
Buffalo is coming off yet another blowout loss. They were beaten handily by the San Diego Chargers 37-10 on the road last week, which has all but eliminated them from playoff contention. The Bills were held to 281 total yards while turning the ball over three times. Fitzpatrick went 13 of 34 for 176 yards with two interceptions as he was off target all day. He was eventually replaced by Tyler Thigpen, who also threw a pick.
The Bills rank 15th in the NFL in total offense (343.6 yards/game) and 23rd in total defense (363.5 yards/game). Fitzpatrick is completing 61.9 percent of his passes for 3,013 yards with 20 touchdowns and 16 interceptions on the season. He has thrown six touchdowns to nine picks during their six-game losing streak. Steve Johnson has had a problem with drops, but he’s having a solid year nonetheless. Their star receiver has 63 receptions for 790 yards and six scores.
Betting Trends
Miami is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall, and 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 road games. However, the Dolphins are just 16-34-1 ATS in their last 51 vs. a team with a losing record.
Buffalo is an impressive 31-15-1 ATS in their last 47 vs. a team with a losing record, but just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
