Miami Dolphins vs. San Diego Chargers Football Predictions
Written October 1, 2008 by Jason Lowry

After losing their first two games in the final seconds, the San Diego Chargers have rolled off two straight to even their record at 2-2, and will head down to Miami to take on the Dolphins, who are coming off a very impressive 38-13 at New England before their bye week. The oddsmakers aren’t riding the wave of the Dolphins just yet, as they have the Chargers 6.5 point favorites in this one at Bookmaker.com
The Chargers come into this one as a team that very easily could be 4-0 after suffering heartbreakers to both Carolina and Denver. After crushing the Jets in week 3, the Chargers headed to Oakland last week expecting to have no problems, but found themselves down 15-3 going into the 4th quarter. But thats when LT and the Chargers offense got it rolling, as LaDainian Tomlinson ran one in from 13 and 41 yards, and next thing you knew the Chargers won the game 28-18. Heading to Miami this weekend its hard to imagine the Chargers having the same kind of struggles as they did last week in Oakland. Though LT finally got it going the offense has really ben thriving on the passing game of Philip Rivers who has seemed find his groove with receivers Vincent Jackson and Chris Chambers.

The Chargers defense has been a little shaky to start the season, and it seems the loss of Shawne Merriman is bigger than they might of expected. The Chargers come in with the 25th worst rush defense, but they had to like what they did against the Raiders rushing attack holding them to just 78 yard on the ground. This defense still has plenty of playmakers on it, and in the long run should be able to get the early season kinks worked out. The key for this week will be stopping the run, as Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown had 113 yards and 4 rushing TDs against a pretty good Patriots defense. Bet the Chargers -6.5 at Bookmaker.com
Now if you look at the one game the Dolphins had against the Pats you would think this offense is pretty darn good, but the truth is they really hadn’t done much of anything in their first two games of the season. Brown has split time with Ricky Williams, and quarterback Chad Pennington has been alright as the new Dolphins signal caller. It will be more of a matter of which offense shows up this week, and if the Chargers find a way to shut down Brown who also had a receiving and passing touchdown last week, where will they turn to get points on the scoreboard.
The Dolphins defense has continued to play well even with the loss of All Pro defensive end Jason Taylor, as they currently have the 2nd best defense yardage wise in the NFL. This defense will have its hands full this weekend, and if they can find a way to slow down the Chargers offense the way the Raiders did for 3 quarters, this could wind up being one of the bigger upsets this weekend.
