Eagles Seahawks Line

Written by -

This Thursday the  Philadelphia Eagles will go on the road to take on the Seattle Seahawks in matchup of two teams sitting at 4-7. The Eagles comes in off a 20-38 loss at home to the New England Patriots, while the Seahawks lost 17-23 at home to the Washington Redskins. While the teams have identical records after 11 games, Philadelphia seems to have the better shot at making the playoffs. The Eagles are just three games back in the NFC North with a 3-1 division record, while Seattle is five games back of San Francisco in the NFC West.

Taking a look at the week 13 lines, oddsmakers currently have the Eagles favored by 2.5-points over the Seahawks with the total set at 43 points.

Philadelphia Eagles:

It’s do or die time for the Eagles, who will likely have to win out just to have a shot at making the playoffs at 9-7. After an impressive 17-10 win on the road against the New York Giants, the Eagles went right back to their losing ways against the Patriots. Philadelphia jumped out to a 10-0 lead early in the first quarter, but the offense would stall from that point on. The Eagles were down 13-38 before scoring a garbage touchdown with 32 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

With Michael Vick unable to play for a second straight week, Vince Yong was asked to carry this team to a win, and for the most part he played extremely well. Young threw for 400 yards and a score on 26 of 48 passing, and was the team’s leading rusher with 40 yards. His numbers would have been even better if it wasn’t for a couple dropped passes. It’s unclear whether or not Young will have to make another start or if Vick will be ready to return to action.

The big story in this game was the fact that Young was the one who led the Eagles in rushing.  LeSean McCoy was held to just 31 yards on 10 attempts, and when he struggles to get going this team usually ends up losing. The Eagles are 4-1 when McCoy rushes for at least 100 yards, and just 1-6 when he fails to reach that mark.

While Seattle is giving up just over 340 yards per game on the season, they are 11th against the run holding opponents to just 100.9 ypg. That number drops to just 98 yards in home games, where the defense seems to play a lot better behind the home crowd.

Seattle Seahawks:

It looked as though the Seahawks were on their way to winning their third straight game, as they jumped ahead of Washington 17-7 with just 12:45 left to play in the fourth quarter. From that point on the offense would fail to record a single first down, while the defense allowed the Redskins to score two touchdowns and a field goal to sneak out a win.

Tavaris Jackson had an up and down day throwing the football. He finished the game with two touchdowns, but was just 14 of 30 for 144 yards with an interception. It didn’t help matters that Jackson lost star wide out Sidney Rice to a concussion in the third quarter. Rice is listed as questionable for Thursday’s game, but the short week figures to make it very difficult for him to return.

The good news from that game was the  success the Seahawks had running the ball, as Marshawn Lynch finished with 111 yards on 24 attempts. That ground attack figures to be go to against the Eagles, who come in giving up just over 110 ypg on the ground.

Betting Trends:

Philadelphia is 29-14 ATS against NFC West division opponents since 1992.

Seattle is 9-21 ATS vs. excellent passing teams averaging 260 or more passing yards/game. since 1992.
