Eli Manning’s 6-Year Contract Extension: $97.5 Million
Written August 5, 2009 by Jack Jones
Well it looks like Eli Manning is going to be the face of the New York Giants for at least another 6 years. The New York Times reports that Manning is close to signing a 6-year extension with the Giants that would be worth about $97.5 million, including about $35 million in guaranteed money.
This was to be Manning’s last year of his original contract, one he signed when he was a rookie that would have paid him about $9.4 this season. The new contract would put Manning closer to $16.25 million per season, provided he can stay healthy. While we don’t know the exact terms of the deal and how much of it has to do with incentives, the new deal would make Manning at the very least among the highest paid quarterbacks in the league. Manning’s brother, Indianapolis Colts quarterback, Petyon Manning is currently the highest paid QB in the league at $14.17 million per season.

We want to reiterate that the terms of this deal are not final and neither sides have released the official terms, but the team’s General Manager, Jerry Reese hinted in an interview today that the deal was simply a matter of getting Eli’s signature on the new contract.
