The Detroit Lions will once again look for that first win of the season, as they failed for the 10th time last week losing to the Panthers 22-31. It won’t be an easy task for the Lions, as they host the 7-3 Tampa bay Buccaneers who are winners of 4 of their last 5, including an impressive 19-13 win at home over the VIkings last week. Now the Lions have just 6 games remaining to get that magical 1st win, but all 6 come against teams that are .500 or better. If you are looking to do make some money by betting on the NFL this weekend, the oddsmakers are thinking all Bucs in this one, as <a href="http://www.betus.com/ats/10383/promo/football/getmore/" rel="nofollow"">Tampa Bay comes in 8.5 point favorites on the road over the Lions at BetUS.com

The Buccaneers did a good job of battling back from being down 13-6 at half, to come away with the big win, and a big reason for that, was the play of quarterback Jeff Garcia who was 23 of 30 passing for 255 yards, and while he didn’t have any touchdown tosses, he more importantly didn’t turn the football over. The Bucs actually only had one touchdown in this one off a 1 yard run by BJ Askew, as they Bucs got the rest of their points off 4 Matt Bryant field goals. Now this team is known for its ability to run the football, but last week Warrick Dunn was the leading rushing with just 53 yards. Good new for this unit is they face the Lions this week, that have had very little success stopping anyone this season.

The Buccaneers defense had a slow start letting the Vikings get off to that early lead, but this defense was tough as nails in the 2nd half, as they completely shut down the Vikings offense. They allowed Adrian Peterson to run for just 85 yars and Gus Frerotte had just 138 yards passing. This week they face Daunte Culpepper and a Lions offense that has done little since signing the once retired QB. Now the Bucs need this win, as they still trail the Panthers in the NFC South, and no one wants to be the team to lose to a team that has started the season 0-10. <a href="http://www.betus.com/ats/10383/promo/football/getmore/" rel="nofollow"">Bet Buccaneers -8.5 at BetUS.com

The Lions have had their chances to get that first win, and last week they surprisingly took a 10-0 lead, but that was quickly erased, as the Panthers put up 21 in the 2nd quarter. Culpepper struggled in this one throwing 2 interceptions to just 1 touchdown, but the Lions did get a very good game out of running back Kevin Smith, as he piled on 112 yards against a pretty darn good Panthers defense. Now its hard to figure out just what this unit has to do to win this week, but another solid performance from Smith is a good start. They likely can’t afford any turnovers, and the defense has to play its best game of the season.

Now its hard to imagine the defense of the Lions playing much worse against the run this week, as they let both Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo run for at least 120 yards, as the two backs combined for 250 yards and 3 scores. On a brighter note for this defense they did hold Jake Delhomme to just 98 yards passing, but who wants to throw the football when they can run all over you the whole game. Sorry Lions fans we don’t know if or when you will get that first win, we just don’t think you have a shot at doing so this week against the Bucs. <a href="http://www.betus.com/ats/10383/promo/football/getmore/" rel="nofollow"">Bet Lions +8.5 at BetUS.com

The Buffalo Bills were once atop the AFC East, but after 4 straight losses the Bills are now dead last in their division at 5-5. This week the Bills head to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs, who have only won 1 game all season, and a loss this week could almost put an end to the Bills playoff chances. Last week the Bills had their shot against the Browns, but fell just short late in the game 27-29, as for the Chiefs they just never really got it going at home against the Saints and wound up losing the game 20-30. For those of you looking to do some NFL betting on this game, the oddsmakers think the Bills will step it up this week, as <a href="http://www.betus.com/ats/10383/promo/football/getmore/" rel="nofollow"">Buffalo comes in 3 point favorites over the Chiefs at BetUS.com

The Bills offense finally picked up the slack and scored some points last week, and were able to overcome a bad first quarter, where Trent Edwards threw 3 interceptions and looked like he didn’t know what was going on. Edwards did bounce back to throw for 148 yards and a touchdown. Now if it wasn’t for Marshawn Lynch having the best game of the season, this one wouldn’t have been close at all. Lynch ran all over the Browns for 119 yards, and was Edwards favorite target grabbing 10 balls for an additional 58 yards and a score. Now Lynch hadn’t had a 100 yard game all season, so if these guys are going to make a late season run and get back in the playoff mix, they need more of the same from Lynch the rest of the way. It should at least happen this week, as the Chiefs have given up a number of big games on the ground this season.

THe Bills defense played pretty well considering all the turnovers they had to deal with to start the game, as they could of easily been down much more than 6 in the 1st quarter. They had done a pretty good job against the run over 3 quarters of play, but that all changed when Jerome Harrison of the Browns ran it 72 yards for a score. The Bills did a real solid job making life difficult for Brady Quinn, as they allowed Quinn to complete just 14 of 36 passes for 185 yards. Now the Chiefs don’t have a lot of fire power on the offensive end of things, but under Tyler Thigpen they have came out firing of late, so there is no safe bet this defense will shutdown the opposition. <a href="http://www.betus.com/ats/10383/promo/football/getmore/" rel="nofollow"">Bet Bills -3 at BetUS.com

The Chiefs haven’t won a game since week 4 when they shocked the Broncos at home, and its been a struggle all season for this team, but you are starting to see the young guys emerge and this team is showing it just might be a force in the years to come. Against the Saints last week Tyler Thigpen had another solid day throwing the football, as he racked up 235 yards, including 2 touchdown tosses to Dwayne Bowe. One knock on Thigpen this week is he did throw his first interception since retaking over the starting job. The Chiefs did get Larry Johnson back in the starting lineup last week, and the back had just 67 yards on 19 carries. If the Chiefs are going to pull off the upset this week, they are going to need another strong outing from Thigpen, and Johnson to be a force running the football.

The Chiefs defense did a pretty respectable job against the Saints last week, as it was only the second time in the last 7 games Drew Brees didn’t throw for over 300 yards. Brees did have 266 but just 1 touchdown to 1 interception. The Chiefs were also pretty good against the run holding the Saints to just 103 yards on the ground, but the big problem was they just couldn’t come up with the big stops when needed. This week they get a struggling Edwards coming to town, but if they can’t find a way to stop the running game of Lynch, its going to be very hard for this team to win this football game. <a href="http://www.betus.com/ats/10383/promo/football/getmore/" rel="nofollow"">Bet Chiefs +3 at BetUS.com

There is no question that one of the more interesting games this weekend comes in the form of the Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots, as few can forget the performance Ronnie Brown and the Dolphins put on the Patriots back in week 3 when Miami took home a 38-13 win at Foxborough. Since that win the Dolphins have won 5 of 7 and now sit tied with the Patriots for 2nd in the AFC East at 6-4. Last week the Dolphins were able to sneak past the Raider 17-15, while the Pats lost a heartbreaker to the Jets 31-34 in overtime. For those of you wanting to do some NFL betting this weekend, the oddsmakers have the <a href="http://www.betus.com/ats/10383/promo/football/getmore/" rel="nofollow"">Dolphins 1.5 point favorites over the Patriots at BetUS.com

The Patriots get their chance at revenge, and its almost a must for this team if they want to stay in the thick of things in this division, as they would need to make up two games on the Dolphins with just 5 games remaining. The Patriots have traded wins and losses the last 4 weeks, and last week they nearly pulled off the comeback behind quarterback Matt Cassel who had his best game as a pro throwing for 400 yards and 3 scores. That wasn’t all Cassel did last week, as he was the teams leading rushing with 62 yards. Now thats good for Cassel, but bad for the Patriots offense, as unless you have a guy like Michael Vick under center, your quarterback shouldn’t be leading you in rushing. Last time around the Pats had just 79 yards on the ground, so if this team can’t get the run game going, its going to be real tough for this team to win this football game.

Last time these two teams faced off Ronnie Brown and the Dolphins made the Patriots looks like they had no idea what hit them, as the Dolphins used a number of different formations to score, as Brown had 4 rushing touchdowns and even threw for a touchdown. Last week against the Jets the Patriots let Brett Favre get back on track, as the veteran threw it 33 times for 258 yards and 2 scores, while Thomas Jones pounded it down their throats 30 times for 104 yards and a score. We expect a much better game out of this unit this week, as they have a better idea of what to expect this time around. <a href="http://www.betus.com/ats/10383/promo/football/getmore/" rel="nofollow"">Bet Patriots +1.5 at BetUS.com

Now we have already mentioned how much success the Dolphins offense had against the Patriots when these two teams first faced off, but its just hard to imagine that Bill Belichick and company are going to let that same thing happen again this week. Now that doesn’t mean the Dolphins will not try their unusual formations, but they are likely going to have to use more of the up the middle attack they have used to get back in the thick of things. Last week Ronnie Brown carried it 16 times for 101 yards, as the Dolphins had over 200 yards on the ground in this one. What really has got this offense clicking of late is the play of Ted Ginn Jr. as he once again led the team in passing, and got the Dolphins off to a good start with a 40 yard touchdown run in the 1st quarter. Now this team has squeaked by the Seahawks and Raiders the last two weeks, so there is no question its going to have to play much better if they want to take down the Pats this weekend.

The Dolphins defense is led by the veteran Joey Porter, as he continues to cause chaos on opposing teams quarterbacks. Last week against the Raiders he had 1.5 sacks, and has had at least half a sack in all but one game this year, including 3 when he went against Cassel and the Pats earlier this season. The Dolphins allowed just 226 total yards to the Raiders last week, and if this defense plays like this, I don’t care who they face they are going to have a chance at winning the game. The key this week is making sure the Pats run game stays silent and putting plenty of pressure on Cassel, as this would be a big time statement win for Miami. <a href="http://www.betus.com/ats/10383/promo/football/getmore/" rel="nofollow"">Bet Dolphins -1.5 at BetUS.com

The Sunday the 4-6 Cleveland Browns get ready the 3-7 Houston Texans, in a game that likely will have little effect on the playoff race this season. Brady Quinn got his first win as a starter this season, as the Browns were able to squeak by the Bills 29-27, as for the Texans they had another rough week without their starting quarterback as they fell 33-27 on the road to the Colts. Now for those of you looking to do a little NFL betting this weekend, the oddsmakers have the <a href="http://www.betus.com/ats/10383/promo/football/getmore/" rel="nofollow"">Browns 3 point favorites at home over the Texans at BetUS.com

The Texans once again gave the Colts a scare this season, as they were all tied up at 13-13 going into the 2nd half, but just had no answer for Peyton Manning in the final two quarters. Sage Rosenfels had a little better day against the Colts this time around, as he had just one turnover this time around, and was pretty solid throwing the football for 192 yards, but the majority of the offense came from the running game, as Steve Slaton racked up 156 yards and a touchdown on just 14 carries, while the big man in Ahman Green pounded in two short touchdown runs. Look for the Texans to try and do much of the same, as the Browns gave up over a 180 on the ground last week against the Bills.

The Texans played a great first half against the Colts, but that just isn’t good enough in the NFL, as it takes a full 4 quarters to get the job done. When it was all said and done the Peyton Manning had 320 yards through the air, while Joseph Addai and Dominic Rhodes combined to run for over a 150 yards. The defense didn’t create any turnovers in this one, and if they play like this on the road against the Browns, there offense better plan on scoring a bunch of points or this one is going to be over early. <a href="http://www.betus.com/ats/10383/promo/football/getmore/" rel="nofollow"">Bet Texans +3 at BetUS.com

Now the Browns needed a 56 yard field goal from Phil Dawson, and a little help from Buffalo place kicker Rian Lindell, as Lindell had a chance to win it from 47 yards out with just 38 seconds left on the clock. We already mention Quinn got his first win, but it wasn’t real pretty for the second year player, as Quinn completed just 14 of his 36 attempts for 185 yards and no scores. One thing Quinn was able to do, as get a little something going with receiver Braylon Edwards, as the two hooked up 8 times for 104 yards. The ground game was solid as Lewis pounded out 65 yards on 18 carries, and Jerome Harrison took a handoff 72 yards for a score to get the Browns going in the 4th. The Browns offense seems set to roll with Quinn from here on out, and it could be the young guys biggest game of the season this week against the Texans.

The Browns defense had its struggles last week, as they had no answer for Marshawn Lynch, as the back had 177 total yards and a score, including 119 on the ground. The Browns did have one heck of start to this game, as they intercepted Trent Edwards 3 times in the first quarter, but the offense was able to put just 6 points on the board. One other notable play coming from the Browns, was right after Harrison had his huge run the Browns special teams fell apart and let Leodis McKelvin take the kickoff back 98 yards for a score. The Browns need to just keep on winning as likely can’t afford more than 1 loss the rest of the way out. <a href="http://www.betus.com/ats/10383/promo/football/getmore/" rel="nofollow"">Bet Browns -3 at BetUS.com

If you need some help making your NFL picks this weekend, or just looking for the latest NFL odds, head over to Betfirms and get ready for a big week in the NFL.

The Giants are scary good. They keep winning and they keep doing it in convincing fashion. This week New York is a 3 point favorite at Arizona.

Carolina is 8-2. They’ve won some close games, but that should give this team character down the home stretch.

The Tampa Bay Bucs just keep on getting better. NFC offenses are powerless against them.

When the Jets beat the Patriots last week they proved to a lot of people they were for real. If you haven’t figured it out, I’m one of those people.

The Cowboys are healthy and ready to start trouncing lesser opponents. There are still some concerns on defense against some of the league’s better offenses, however.

It’s “make your season” time for Arizona. If they beat the Giants this week they are legitimate contenders. If they lose, they’ll still run away with the NFC West, but there will be plenty of doubts about how far they can go in the playoffs.

Indianapolis has hit their stride and are looking more and more dangerous each week. The offense is making all of the right moves, but we though getting Bob Sanders back was going to help the defense get back on track. It hasn’t been the case.

When Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t turn the ball over, the Steelers win. It’s as simple as that.

The Patriots lost a lot last week with a loss to the Jets, now they face the possibility of losing the playoffs if they can’t find a way to get past Miami this week.

The Broncos are phenomenal on offense, but their defense keeps them from being a top-tier NFL team this year.

Atlanta will move up the ranks by leaps and bounds if they can find a way to knock off Carolina this week. With loss at home last week, however, doubts are starting to pile up about the Falcons.

The Washington Redskins need to bust out of their current funk or they’ll miss the playoffs. They have the talent, they just need Jason Campbell to start finding a better rhythm, and now.

Green Bay is a different team when Ryan Grant is healthy and running the ball well. He ran well last week and the Packers looked great. They are currently tied for the division lead.

The Baltimore Ravens’ defense looked vulnerable for the first time in a long time last week. Either the Ravens are starting to wear down, or the Giants are simply THAT good. The Ravens are currently 1 point favorites at home.

The Eagles tied the Bengals last week. That’s enough to drop anyone a few spots in the power rankings. This week they play at Baltimore against an angry Ravens squad. Ouch.

Where’s the defense the Chicago Bears have been known for in the past?

The Minnesota Vikings are good on defense, good running the ball, but terrible throwing the ball. A consistent passing game would do wonders for this team.

New Orleans has a tough road ahead, but they keep hanging around. Playoffs are doubtful, but you never know. If they could just get healthy it would solve a lot of problems.

NFL betting this week doesn’t have to by a mystery! With our NFL game picks you’ll be beating the NFL lines in no-time!

The Giants are giving 3 at Arizona. Road dogs can be killers in the NFL, but the Giants are too good right now. New York 31, Arizona 20.

I faded the Titans last week thinking their run had to eventually come to an end. Now, I’m not so sure. They are 5 point favorites at home against the Jets. Feels like about time for the Brett Favre meltdown game. Tennessee in convincing fashion 28-10.

The Dolphins have won 4 in a row, but I still don’t really see how they are 1 point favorites against the Patriots, even at home. Time for that Miami run to end. Pats win 23-17.

Is there something in the water in San Diego? The Chargers have lost 3 of their last 4 and have a surging Colts team this week. The Colts are 2.5 point dogs, but I’m thinking moneyline here. Indy 27, San Diego 21.

The Packers are playing for the playoffs right now. The Saints are 2.5 point favorites at home, but Green Bay is getting hot at just the right time. Aaron Rodgers and company squeak by New Orleans 28-24.

If you haven’t given up on the Lions, now is the time. They’ve been ok against the spread this year, but this week Tampa Bay will likely hold their offense to about 50 yards of total offense. Tampa won’t have to score much to cover this one, the Bucs win 20-3.

The Baltimore Ravens got a reality check from the New York Giants last week. This week they are at home as one point favorites over Philadelphia. Philly is just .500 on the road and they just tied the Bengals last week. I mean, the Bengals? I’ll take Baltimore to win 21-17.

I love what the Falcons have done this year, but the Carolina Panthers keep on winning and it doesn’t seem to matter where they play, they find a way to pull it out. Final score: Carolina 27, Atlanta 20.

Raiders v. Broncos used to be a classic rivalry. This year it’s a joke. Raiders defense, meet the Denver offense. Broncos in a laugher 45-21.

I’m still not convinced the Jags are as bad as their record indicates they are. Minnesota has a great running back and a great defense, it’s just no enough. Jacksonville 23, Minnesota 10.

Not much to play for in the Houston/Cleveland game this week, but I’m sure the Browns will try to keep developing Brady Quinn. He’s still got aways to go, but should work the Houston secondary well enough to pick up a 28-21 win for Cleveland.

San Francisco v. Dallas is another rivalry that’s fallen on hard times, mostly because the 49ers have been terrible. Mike Singletary seems to have brought them alive however, so I’ll take the 10 points and the 49ers this week. Dallas 31, San Francisco 24.

The Rams are playing some awful football if I’ve ever seen it. Take the Bears and give the 8. Chicago wins 21-7.

Washington wants and needs a win at Seattle. They’ve got the talent to get it done on the road this week, Redskins win 24-14.

The Bills can snap a 4 game losing streak with a win at Kansas City this week. The Bills will snap their 4 game losing streak at Kansas City this week. Bills 30, Chiefs 13.

Thursday Night Football this week features the Cincinnati Bengals at the Pittsburgh Steelers. Oddsmakers aren’t giving the Bengals much of a chance (with good reason) and have made them 10.5 underdogs against Pitt.

The New York Giants continue their campaign to repeat as Super Bowl Champions at Arizona this week. The Cardinals can clinch their division with a win, but the Giants are favored by 3 points.

Can the undefeated run continue for the Tennessee Titans? They get the Jets in Tennessee this week, which has shaped up to be one of the best match ups on the board. The 10-0 Titans are 5 point favorites on their home field.

In one of the more suspicious lines of the week, the Miami Dolphins are favored by one point at home against the the New England Patriots. The Dolphins have been squeaking by everyone lately, though, so maybe the spread is justified.

The Colts have turned their season around, but they are getting 2.5 points at San Diego this week against a Charger team that has seemingly fallen apart since last year.

Monday Night Football has a pair of 5-5 teams in the Packers and the Saints. The Saints are 2.5 point favorites, but the Packers have a lot of motivation as they still have a very legitimate shot at the playoffs.

Do the Detroit Lions even want to win another game this year? They actually haven’t played that poorly lately, but keep ending up getting the short end of the stick. No easy task for Detroit at home this week, they get the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who come into town as 8 point favorites.

The Eagles and Ravens could both use a win this week. Oddsmakers think it will be a close one with the Ravens favored by 1 point at home.

The Panthers try for their 9th win of the season at Atlanta this week. The Falcons need a win at home to shake off the Denver loss from last week, and to prove they are playoff-worthy.

The Denver Broncos have to completely fall apart to lost the AFC West. There’s little chance of that this week. The Broncs are 8.5 point favorites over the lowly Raiders in Denver.

Jacksonville has probably played themselves out of the playoff picture, but they are still tough at home and are 2.5 point favorites against the visiting Minnesota Vikings this week.

The Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns are pretty much playing for pride at this point. The Browns get favored by 3.5 at home this week.

The Cowboys got their mojo back with Tony Romo. Dallas hosts San Francisco as 10 point favorites Sunday.

The Bears will need to win at St. Louis to try and keep pace with the Packers. St. Louis has been just awful. As a result, they are 8 point dogs at home.

Washington tries to keep the wheels from falling off by avoiding their 3 straight loss. The Redskins are 3.5 point favorites on the road at Seattle.

My how the Buffalo Bills have fallen. This week they play at Kansas City as just 3.5 point favorites over the 1-9 Chiefs.

The BCS National Championship game is mostly likely going to be the winner of the Big 12 against the winner of the SEC. The Florida Gators are playing like the best team in the nation right now and they should get past Alabama in the conference title game, all but insuring their spot in the FedEx National Championship. The Big 12 is a little trickier. All kinds of different scenarios could play out, but we’re taking the Texas Longhorns, who will be the choice for the Big 12 Championship game (and the favorite to win the game) if Texas Tech loses to Oklahoma this week. Right now Oklahoma is favored by 7 over Texas Tech.

For the Fiesta Bowl we are looking at a possible Oklahoma vs Ohio State match up that would be intriguing to say the least. The Buckeyes have looked great since their loss to USC. Even with two losses the Buckeyes are a great choice for the Fiesta because of their tremendous following. The same goes for the Sooners, who have a great fan base and would get the bid if they don’t leapfrog Texas in the BCS standings for the championship with a win over Texas Tech this week.

In the Sugar Bowl the most likely candidate would be the loser of the SEC Title game, and we’re assuming that will be Alabama in this case. The Tide have had a great season, but if they can’t get past the hottest team in the nation, the Florida Gators, they’ll have to settle for the Sugar Bowl. Alabama is most likely to be paired with Utah if the Utes can stay undefeated. This spot would normally be reserved for the winner of the Big East, but the Sugar would likely take an undefeated Utah team over Pitt, or whoever else ends up winning the Big East conference.

The Rose Bowl likes to stick with traditional pairings, so the Pac-10 champ and the Big 10 champ are most likely to land spots in Pasadena. USC can lose our to Oregon State, who beat them and is in position with win the Pac-10 if they can win out, but the Beavers have to beat Arizona and Oregon in back to back weeks to keep the Trojans out of the Rose Bowl. Penn State should end up on top of the Big 10 and earn their trip to the Rose Bowl. It isn’t what the Lions had planned, but their BCS title hopes were dashed with a loss to Iowa two weeks ago. As long as Penn State doesn’t falter again, they’ll end up in this prestigeous bowl.

The champion of the ACC gets an automatic bid to the Orange Bowl and we are projecting that the Miami Hurricanes are in the best position to with the Atlantic Coast conference. The Hurricanes will have to beat a tough Maryland team to get into the BCS, but they have improved as the season has worn on. The most likely team to be paired with Miami in the Orange Bowl is Pitt, who will likely end up as the Big East Champion, but don’t be surprised if the Orange Bowl passes on the Panthers and chooses someone like Boise State if the Broncos remain undefeated. Boise State is a 6 point favorite to win this week and stay unbeaten.

Most college football power polls have Alabama ranked number one, but I’m sticking Texas Tech at the top spot this week. The Red Raiders have more impressive wins so far this season and the Crimson Tide’s wins over Georgia and LSU look less and less impressive as the year wears on. Tech has their most difficult game of the year coming at Oklahoma this week, but they belong in the top spot for now.

Alabama slides to #2 after an underwhelming performance against Mississippi State last week. Sure, the Tide won 32-7, but Alabama looked sluggish in the first half. They are undefeated, so you have to give them their credit, but does anyone else get the feeling that they aren’t the best team in the SEC right now?

Texas would probably rank above Alabama if it weren’t for that pesky loss against Texas Tech. Even so, the Longhorns are still firing on all cylinders and notched an important road victory over Kansas last week in convincing fashion. The Texas Tech/Oklahoma game this weekend could decide the Longhorn’s BCS Championship fate. Texas gets a bye this week, then plays Texas A&M on November 27th.

Oklahoma is playing better right now than any team not named Florida. They get the nod over the Gators, however, because they’ve had a more difficult schedule this year. Nothing that’s happened in the last 12 weeks really matters now, though, the Sooners absolutely have to win against Texas Tech to stay in the national title race.

Florida could easily be at the top of the power rankings in a few weeks. Other than their loss, at home, to Ole Miss, the Gators have been unstoppable and seem to be getting better as the season progresses. Their next game of meaning will, in all likelyhood, be against Alabama in the SEC Championship. At that point we’ll see who the real power in the conference (and possibly the nation) is.

Get up to 145% in Signup Bonuses at BetUS!

The USC defense earns them a spot at #6 in the power rankings. The Trojans are good on offense, but ridiculously inconsistent. If the USC offense starts hitting their stride now, there’s no stopping the Trojans. The Rose Bowl isn’t certain, but likely for USC, though they are hoping things might get shaken up in the SEC and Big 12 this week and in the conference championship games so that the Trojans could be considered for the BCS Championship.

Penn State is the best team in the Big 10, but they looked lackluster last week against Indiana. More than anything it was probably the hangover from the loss at Iowa the previous week, but the Lions need to keep it together and finish the season strong. This week they have a tough game at home against Michigan State, but PSU still has a lot to play for this year and should be ready for whatever the Spartans can throw at them.

Oklahoma State is the best two-loss team in the nation, but both Missouri and Ohio State are climbing fast. Losses to Texas and Texas Tech don’t seem too bad. They took care of business last week against Colorado. They’ll get a bye this week, then face Oklahoma on Nov. 29th for yet another monster Big 12 battle.

Boise State is still the best mid-major, BCS Buster, or whatever you want to call them, until someone dethrones them. What do they do? They win football games, and they win them convincingly. The WAC is a weak conference, that’s for sure, but I’m tired of that excuse as the Broncos have always played well against big-conference schools as well.

The Utah Utes have a chance to pass Boise with a win over BYU this week. This is a huge rivalry and the game where Utah is most vulnerable this year. I don’t expect a letdown, so it will be interesting to see where the Utes end up falling in when the Bowls are passed out.

LSU is just a 3.5 point favorite against Ole Miss this Saturday. The Rebels are a tough team to figure out. They beat Florida in Florida, but have lost to South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forest. They played Alabama tough in Alabama, but also played a terrible Arkansas team close in Arkansas. LSU has been nothing but up and down all year, and a closer look at their schedule shows that the Tigers haven’t really beaten anyone of note this year. I’ll take the Rebs and the points as Mississippi has played great on the road this season. The final score should be something like Mississippi 27, LSU 23.

Michigan has been just awful this year, which is probably why they are 21 point underdogs at Ohio State this week. The Buckeyes have really hit their stride and I don’t think they’ll pass up a chance to humiliate the Wolverines. Ohio State in an ugly one, 49-14.

I know it’s cliche at this point, but Oregon State controls their own destiny at this point in the season. They can still win the Pac-10 having knocked off USC earlier this year, but they’ll have to beat Arizona and Cal in back to back weeks. The motivation is there and I think Arizona is one of the most overrated teams in the nation. The Beavers grab their first of two crucial wins 28-17 Saturday.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past few college football seasons, it’s that you don’t, under any circumstances, bet against the Boise State Broncos! They are a spread-covering machine. This week they are playing at Nevada as 6 point favorites. Boise needs the win to keep their “BCS Buster” status. Nevada is a good team, but my rule still applies. Boise 35, Nevada 21.

Utah is in the same position as Boise this week. They’re undefeated, looking for a BCS bid, and they have a tough opponent. Things should be a little easier for the Utes, though, as they get BYU at Utah with the Utes as 6.5 point favorites. I’m sure BYU would love to play spoiler here, but I don’t see it. The Utes get the best of the Cougars 44-28.

Penn State lost their hopes of a national title run when they lost to Iowa two weeks ago and this week they have a very difficult game at home against the Michigan State Spartans. Michigan State plays the style of football that can keep a game like this close. The Lions still walk away with the victory, but it’s closer than the 14.5 point spread. Penn State 21, Michigan State 13.

North Carolinians are excited about the North Carolina/North Carolina State game this week, but NC State fans should prepare for the worst. The Tar Heels have put together a very good team and should win this Saturday by 3 touchdowns. Final predicted score: North Carolina 35, NC State 14.
