Florida State vs. Florida Football Betting Odds & Spread
Written November 25, 2008 by Jason Lowry

Now the No.3 Florida Gators still likely get their shot at the National Championship with a win in their final two games of the season, but first things first they have to take on in-state rival Florida State, as the Seminoles would love nothing more than to ruin the Gators season. Last week the Gators had absolutely no trouble beating The Citadel, as Florida won easily 70-19. Now Florida State is 8-3 and is coming off one of their most impressive wins of the season where they went into Maryland and beat up on the Terrapins 37-3. If you are looking to bet on NCAA Football this weekend, the oddsmakers have the Gators 16.5 point favorites over Florida State at Bookmaker.com
Florida State definitely comes into this one with the confidence needed to beat that Gators this week, and it should come to know surprise if they do, since rivalry games like this can produce some pretty crazy games. Now no one thought the Seminoles had much of a chance last week after getting beat pretty bad at home by Boston College. Against the Terps last week the Seminoles offense used two rushing touchdowns, one from Antone Smith and the other by quarterback Christian Ponder, who also had a 7 yard touchdown pass to Preston Parker. Ponder only had a 143 yards through the air in this one, but he played one heck of a game. This week they are likely going to need that same kind of performance plus more, as the Gators really look like they got things clicking on the offensive side of things.
The Seminoles defense was dominant against the Terrapins, as they allowed the Terps to gain just 252 yards of total offense and really made life miserable for this team from start to finish. The Seminoles defense created 4 turnovers with two coming by fumbles and the other 2 by interceptions. One of those fumbles went to Derek Nicholson who returned it 22 yards for a score. Now this defense has the talent to at least slow down the Gators, but holding them to 3 points is something no one expects from this unit. If the Seminoles are going to stick around for the long haul against the Gators its going to have to keep Tebow in check and win the turnover battle. Bet Florida State +16.5 at Bookmaker.com
The Gators have now won 7 straight since getting upset back in September by Mississippi, and the y have been crushing teams, as they are scoring 44 points a game during this stretch, and winning those games by an average of 41 points. Now those wins include teams like LSU, Georgia, and South Carolina, so whats to think Florida State will be any different. The Gators aren’t stupid and know this one is most likely going to be a dog fight from start to finish, but with Tim Tebow at quarterback its hard to think the outcome will change wether its by 40 or 10. Percy Harvin is another big reason the Gators are rolling strong right now, and were sure to expect at least a couple big plays from the versatile receiver/runner.
Now when you are winning by 41 points a game, there is no question that your defense is playing some pretty darn good football as well, and while The Citadel isn’t much to speak of, in their last SEC game against South Carolina where Steve Spurrier was suppose to give the Gators trouble, Florida allowed the Gamecocks to score just 6 points with just 173 yards of total offense. Now the Gators are pretty use to Florida State and their offensive schemes, so its really hard to imagine that Florida State is going to come in and shock the Gators.
