What a terrible run

. Still + on the year, but putting that at risk today.

Tuesday- 3* on Astros -130 NO ACTION - GAME DELAYED
I expect Roy Oswalt to come out and get his first win of the season. Oswalt has pitched particularly well in his last 3 starts, earning a 3.21 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. He is 0-0 in that span, but his team is 3-0. Pitching continues to be the main problem for the Washington Nationals, and Tuesday's starter, Scott Olsen, is no exception. Olsen is 1-3 on the year with a 6.07 ERA and a 1.73 WHIP. Olsen has improved this season, pitching well in has last three outings, but his WHIP remains high and the Nats are just 1-2 in those starts. Offensively, neither team has great numbers, but the Astros are 4-2 against left handed starters this year, scoring 5 runs per game and hitting .281 as a team, both numbers well above their season averages. I will again point to the Washington bullpen, which has been just about as bad as a bullpen can be. As a collective unit they are 0-8 with a 5.28 ERA and they've blown 5 of their 8 save opportunities. Stick with the Astros on Tuesday.
5* Blue Chip Bet on Cardinals -125
Give the edge to the Cardinals tonight with Wainwright on the mound. The young starter is 3-0 on the season with a 2.76 ERA, and he's been even better at home, dropping that ERA to 1.56 in three starts in St. Louis. He also has past success against the Phillies. In three career starts, Wainwright is 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA (the Cards are 3-0 in those starts. The Phillies send Brett Myers to the mound tonight, a veteran who is struggling mightily with his control. In 31 2/3 innings pitched this year, he's walked 15 batters and given up 8 home runs. Myers is currently sporting a 1-2 record and a 4.83 ERA, but I think those numbers are only going to get worse as Myers' control problems have been worse over his 3 most recent starts. His velocity is down and as a result he is not striking out many batters anymore. Meanwhile, the Cardinals have one of the best line ups in the majors for hitting against right-handed starters, scoring 6.2 runs per game and hitting .292 against them. The Cards bats were held at bay last night, but don't look for a repeat performance of that with Myers on the mound.
