Today the ncaa is once again going to drop the hammer on the University of Alabama's athletic department for the book-gate scandal of 2007. It is allegged that 200 student athletes (5 from football ) recieved free text books in violation of ncaa rules. There are not expected to be any scholarship reductions or post season bans as far as football goes although there could be more serious penalties in other sports. It is however expected to be a forfiet of 6 wins from the 07 football season , changing the record from 7-6 to 1-12. They are expected to be put on 3 years probation and a 5 year moratorium meaning any other future violations could result in the death penalty.

major violations in 16 of 19 sports ... only , women's rowing and mens and women cross country are exempt.

3 years of probation and " vacating " of all wins in these 16 sports for regular and post season play from the fall of 2004 to present. ( this includes coaches records ) ... I think the womens gymnastics team won some national championships in that time.


.. he he , from 04-07 the price of the text books in question rose by as much as 400%.
