Play of the Day Contest

I thought I’d add a little something for all of my forum posters. Each morning I’ll create a thread titled “Play of the Day Contest (insert date)” in the college basketball forum with lines for all of the college basketball and NBA games. There you will have the opportunity to pick one game against the spread. Post your number of wins each day along with your selection and if you can beat me AND the rest of your peers to end up as the WINNER of the contest you will get my ALL Sports package until the end of the NBA Finals on the house (April, May, June). Rules are pretty simple but Steve Janus and theFade will have the final say on all rulings.

1. Do not attempt to cheat. Do not edit your thread, even if it's before the start of the game. Once you post a play that play is final. Make your post at least 5 minutes before the game starts. First violation you just get docked a win, second and you are eliminated from the contest.

2. The last five days of the contest you can email me the plays via private message or email. This is so the guy in first place one game ahead of you doesn't wait for you to post and then copy who you are taking.

3. I am too honest to think of any other way a guy can cheat here, so if any of you shadier visitors can help me think like the dark side post it here =)

You can only choose from sides for the play of the day contest. No Totals or Moneyline bets.

At least you made it easier for us to win after that first pick, even though the Celtics did cost me 4us. But, the bright side is: I love to see the Celtics lose if they ain't gonna cover :D.

A couple of suggestions now that we have got going through three games...

1) Could a leaderboard be published, perhaps with the day's lines?

2) If and when the competition goes to email during the last week, could players perhaps be informed of other's picks when they have sent their email, both so:

(i) contenders know who to root against

(ii) having regard to the excellent standard, bettors get competent information about potential bets.

I shouldn't be at all surprised if some simple little systems (i.e. bet selections chosen by more than one entrant and not opposed by any entrant) pay dividends over the forthcoming month. If this is so, it might be worth thinking in terms of continuing this general co-operation by some means.

Solid idea. I think after we get a week's worth of games then this could be implemented.

Unbeknownst to me, I think I made my selection late. I selected College of Charleston but it might have less than the 5 minutes before game time.
If you choose to dock me, I will accpt my penalty. However, it was not my intention to cheat. Humble apologies.
