Back to the NBA tonight, which has given me my only lost of the contest:

    Minnesota Timberwolves +15.5

Sure the Wolves have been a terrible 10-19 on the road this year, but they are only losing by an average of 3 ppg. The Lakers have been playing some lower scoring games, which to me means that you want to take a large number of points if you can get them. In fact, a great system play is to take underdogs of 10 or more points after going under the total by a combined 30+ points in their last 3 games when they are playing an opponent that has gone a combined 54 points under the total in their last 10. 29-5 (85.3%) over teh last five years. Minnesota has been struggling without Jefferson, losing seven straight games and five straight ATS but they are getting too many points tonight in LA. There is too much value here to pass up as LA has lost two out of three and three straight at the pay window. The Wolves kept it close against LA last time in Minnesota, which to me means they can keep it close enough to cover tonight.

    Record: 4-1

I think Trev realized his futile attempt to beat me was going nowhere:

    Marquette -5

I'll take the Golden Flashes today who are 16-1 on their home floor and winning by 16 points in Milwaukee. Syracuse is just 5-5 on the road this year giving up more points than they are scoring. Yeah that Orange have blown out St. John's Cincinnati, and Rutgers in their last three games but that just allows us to see some value on Marquette today. Plus a great system is to play against road underdogs of 3.5 to 9.5 points off a blowout win by 20 or more points over a conference rival against opponent coming off a road game in which both teams put up more than 75 points. 26-6 (81.2%) since 1997. Marquette has lost three straight games to the top teams in the Big East, they get back on track today in their home finale.

    Record: 4-2

25* NBA Game of the Month on Boston -3.5

This is a statement game today for the Celtics, who will want to remind the up and coming Magic who the World Champs are. Orlando has gone just 4-16 ATS their last 20 on the road against teams who shoot better than 46% and allow teams to shoot less than 43%. Boston on the other hand has gone 20-9 ATS when playing teams with above-70% winning percentages. Both of these teams have injuries, but without Jameer Nelson the Magic have gone just 9-6 over their last 15 games, whereas the Celtics haven't played too poorly without Kevin Garnett, as evidenced by their big win against Cleveland the other night. Boston has shown they are the superior team twice already with a 10 point win in Orlando and a 19 point win at home against the Magic. They win in a blowout again tonight.

    4-3

losing streak halted at 3.....now 3-4 for our little bet.

I will need to make 2 picks 1 day to make up for missing Friday. Let me know when you would like me to do that Jack.

4-4 - getting killed in the NBA but couldn't resist tonight:

    Detroit/Orlando UNDER 187

Both of these teams can step it up on the defensive side of the floor as the Magic are allowing just 95.1 ppg and the Pistons are giving up 93.9. I know Orlando has quite a bit better of an offense, but with this game in Detroit I think the Pistons do a better job of dictating the pace, and they'll like to make it a half court game. These two teams have faced off twice already this year, with Detroit winning both by scores of 93-85 and 88-82.

You can post two in one day whenever you like more than one game.

    Tuesday POD Contest

Time to get this train back on the tracks.

    Georgetown -5.5
I know that St. John's beat Georgetown in overtime a week ago, but if anything I feel like that is motivation for the Hoyas. St. John's has been playing better as of late, but I still don't like their defense. I see Greg Monroe and DaJuan Summers both having big offensive games for Georgetown against a St. John's defense that simply isn't as talented. The Hoyas should have learned from their mistakes in the previous meeting. I still think they are the better overall team and pick up a sizable win this afternoon.

    Record: 4-5
