Gambling on Airplanes
Written February 19, 2008 by Jack Jones
Some people get so excited for their trip to Las Vegas that they inquire about gambling on airplanes. While this seems perfectly reasonable to assume since the plane is landing in Sin City, it is currently against the law for carriers on flights that take off or land in the United States to have gambling on their flights. The 1994 Gorton Amendment bans gambling even for international carriers that begin or end their flight in the United States of America.
If you are traveling abroad between two foreign nations then you might see this kind of entertainment included on the flight. How great would it be to allow gamblers on the plane to gamble away their vacation cash in order to lower the fares for travelers? However, the great politicians of this nation would probably have a hard time with leaving holiday travelers broke before they even arrive to Las Vegas, not to mention that lobbying that would go on with the casinos getting pissed off someone is taking from their action.
