Georgetown vs Ohio

The 3-seed Georgetown Hoyas will take on the 14-seed Ohio Bobcats in the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday. This game will take place in Providence, Rhode Island which is certainly a home-court advantage for the Hoyas. According to the college basketball odds makers, the Hoyas are expected to roll as they have listed Georgetown -13.5 over Ohio.

The Hoyas were looking at anywhere from a 7-to-10 seed before the Big East Tournament, but a run to the championship game really helped their cause. They were rewarded with a #3 seed after nearly winning it all, losing 58-60 to West Virginia in the final. Georgetown went 23-10 on the season and 10-8 in Big East play. They cruised through the first three rounds of their conference tournament, taking care of South Florida, No. 1 seed Syracuse and Marquette along the way. The Hoyas have the Big 3 in Greg Monroe, Chris Wright and Austin Freeman that will prove to be a difficult match-up for any team they face in the NCAA Tournament.

The Ohio Bobcats were the Cinderella of the MAC Tournament, and they are hoping to become the Cinderella of March Madness as well. They were a #9 seed entering the MAC Tourney, so they weren’t on anyone’s radar to make the Big Dance. The Bobcats had to go on the road to beat Ball State, and won that game in overtime. They then knocked off top seed Kent State by 17 points. Ohio took care of Miami in the semifinals, and forced overtime against Akron in the championship game and eventually took down the MAC crown. Armon Bassett played in two NCAA Tournaments at Indiana before transferring to Ohio, so they will have some postseason experience with him even though Ohio has not made the field of 64 since 2005.
